Last night, Kindly Direct Care had the honor of sponsoring an event for mothers raising children with disabilities.
As we were putting together these gifts, we kept coming back to one thought:
These moms are superheroes.
Not the kind with capes or recognition. The kind who advocate tirelessly, solve problems nobody sees, carry enormous responsibilities, and somehow still show up every day with love, patience, and strength.
That’s why we included this note:
To our quiet heroes,
The love, patience, strength, and advocacy you pour into your child every day often go unseen.
We see you.
We celebrate you.
We appreciate you.
As you fill this bag with sunscreen, snacks, and summer memories, we hope you find a few moments to take care of yourself, too.
You deserve it.
This wasn’t just a tag attached to a gift bag.
It was the most important part of the gift.
Every word was chosen intentionally because we know that many caregivers spend so much time taking care of everyone else that they rarely hear these words themselves. They rarely receive the recognition they so deeply deserve.
But as the evening unfolded, something unexpected happened.
We came thinking we were there to give.
Instead, we left feeling like we had received far more.
We witnessed extraordinary love. Remarkable strength. Quiet resilience. Unwavering determination.
We left inspired, humbled, and deeply moved by the incredible women in that room.
If anything, they were the ones who gave us the gift, a powerful reminder of what courage, selflessness, and unconditional love truly look like.
To every mother walking this journey: thank you for your resilience, your advocacy, your patience, and your unwavering love.
