The Greek Salad leans on lean turkey meatballs and feta โ€” protein your body can actually use to build and maintain muscle, not just calories to get through the day. The Thai Peanut Chicken Salad brings protein, healthy fat, and fiber together in one jar, the kind of balance that helps your metabolism adapt instead of just get by.

If you're a busy mom juggling everything and feel like your metabolism just doesn't work the way it used to โ€” this is exactly the kind of small, doable shift that adds up. You don't need more hours in the day, just meals that are quietly working for you instead of against you.

I have news: I'm launching my new 1:1 Metabolic Health Coaching Program โ€” and my first client is me. ๐Ÿ’š

Here's the honest version: I got my own health and nutrition together back in 2020, and it changed everything. But over the past year, between some hard personal seasons, perimenopause, and just trying to keep up as a mom, wife, practice owner, and full-time professor โ€” my own metabolic health started slipping.

So I'm doing my own reset, right alongside anyone who wants to join me.

5 days in, and I'm already seeing it:
โฌ‡๏ธ Down 4.5 lbs
โฌ‡๏ธ Body fat -0.6%
โฌ‡๏ธ Subcutaneous fat -0.5%

And I'm just getting started.

Who's ready to join me for September? Kids are back in school, life has routine again, and the summer BBQs and vacations are behind us. It's OUR time to reset, refocus, and feel our best.

This program is built to help you improve your metabolism, boost energy, improve insulin sensitivity, and create results that actually last โ€” not another quick fix.

The first step is simple: take my free metabolic health assessment and find out where your metabolism stands right now, with personalized insights to match. Click here for your free assessment: https://mymetabolicscan.com/Assessment?slug=ericaplimpton

This is what I mean when I talk about eating for your metabolism โ€” not less food, but the right mix of it. Lean protein supports the muscle that drives so much of your metabolic health. Fiber-rich veggies and lower-glycemic ingredients help keep insulin steady instead of spiking it. And meals built this way โ€” balanced, satisfying, repeatable โ€” are exactly what gives your body the flexibility to handle whatever the day brings. Real food, doing real work. ๐Ÿ’ช

Your metabolism isn't supposed to be stuck in one gear. โš™๏ธ

Have you heard the term metabolic flexibility?

It describes your body's ability to adapt its fuel use based on what's available and what your body needs โ€” shifting between carbohydrate and fat oxidation during things like eating, fasting and exercise.

Think of it a little like a hybrid car. ๐Ÿš—

After a meal, insulin helps your body use and store incoming nutrients. Between meals and during periods of increased energy demand, your body should also be able to draw more readily on stored fuel.

That ability to adapt is part of a healthy metabolism. Research has found impaired metabolic flexibility in people with insulin resistance, obesity and type 2 diabetes โ€” although the relationship is complex and we're still learning exactly how these processes interact.

And metabolic health is influenced by MUCH more than calories or the number on your scale. Physical activity and exercise, skeletal muscle, nutrition, sleep, body composition and insulin sensitivity all play important roles in how your body manages energy.

That's why I don't think our goal should simply be to weigh less. I want us to build bodies that are metabolically healthier and more resilient. ๐Ÿ’š

There are things we can do to move the needle:
๐Ÿ’ช Build and protect muscle
๐Ÿšถ Move throughout the day
๐Ÿฅฉ Prioritize adequate protein and nutrient-dense foods
๐Ÿ˜ด Protect our sleep
๐Ÿฅฆ Reduce reliance on highly processed foods
โšก Improve insulin sensitivity
๐Ÿ‹๏ธ Exercise regularly

The goal isn't to eat less forever. It's to build a healthier metabolism that can appropriately respond to changes in fuel availability and energy demand.

Want to improve your metabolism? Don't just focus on losing FAT. Pay attention to your MUSCLE. ๐Ÿ’ช

Muscle isn't just about looking strong โ€” skeletal muscle plays a HUGE role in metabolic health.

In fact, skeletal muscle is the major site of insulin-stimulated glucose disposal. Under laboratory clamp conditions, roughly 70โ€“80% of it occurs in skeletal muscle.

And exercise does something pretty amazing: muscle contraction increases glucose uptake, and exercise can improve your muscle's sensitivity to insulin afterward.

So when we're talking about metabolic health, maintaining โ€” and ideally building โ€” muscle deserves a seat at the table.

Muscle supports:
โ†’ Insulin sensitivity
โ†’ Glucose regulation
โ†’ Strength and physical function
โ†’ Healthy aging
โ†’ Body composition
โ†’ Overall metabolic health

This matters even more as we get older. We naturally become more vulnerable to muscle loss with aging, and weight loss can include loss of lean tissue โ€” not just fat.

That's why I don't want weight loss to be the only goal. I want us thinking about WHAT we're losing โ€” and what we're protecting.

Protein matters. Resistance training matters. Walking and movement matter. Recovery matters. And muscle matters โ€” a LOT.

The goal isn't simply a smaller body. It's a stronger, healthier and more metabolically resilient one. ๐Ÿ’š

Insulin resistance can be quietly developing YEARS before your blood sugar looks โ€œbad.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€

This is one of the things I wish more people understood about metabolic health.

When our tissues become less responsive to insulin, the pancreas often compensates by producing MORE insulin to help move glucose into our cells. For a while, that compensation can workโ€”meaning fasting glucose and even A1C may still look relatively โ€œnormalโ€ while insulin resistance is developing.

Our bodies may give us other clues along the way.

You might notice increasing weight around your middle, difficulty losing weight, afternoon energy crashes, hunger soon after eating, louder sugar or carb cravings, โ€œfood noise,โ€ brain fog or fatigue.

These symptoms are **not specific to insulin resistance** and can have MANY other causes. But they may be worth paying attention toโ€”especially alongside increasing waist circumference, rising triglycerides, lower HDL, increasing blood pressure, slowly rising glucose/A1C, or skin changes such as acanthosis nigricans or increasing skin tags.

Eventually, the pancreas may no longer be able to compensate, and blood glucose can begin to riseโ€”potentially progressing toward prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

This is why I care about metabolic health BEFORE someone gets a diagnosis.

Metabolic health exists on a continuum. A โ€œnormalโ€ glucose doesn't always tell us the whole story.
