Grief does not only affect emotions. It can affect the body too.

After loss, many people notice changes in their physical health, including fatigue, digestive issues, hormone imbalances, sleep disruption, inflammation, anxiety, and increased stress sensitivity. This is because grief can place the nervous system into a prolonged state of stress, impacting cortisol levels, immune function, gut health, and hormone balance over time.

The body and mind are deeply connected, and emotional experiences can absolutely influence physical health. Healing is not about “moving on.” It is about supporting the whole body through the healing process with compassion, patience, and care.

And if your body has felt different after loss or prolonged stress, know that your experience is valid. Sometimes healing starts by giving the nervous system the support, rest, and compassion it has been asking for all along. 🤍

If you have been told “everything looks normal,” but you still feel terrible, you are not imagining your symptoms.

Many people are struggling with:
▪️ Bloating
▪️ Cramping
▪️ Digestive urgency
▪️ Food sensitivities
▪️ Unpredictable bowel habits

People are often left without real answers when standard test results come back normal.

A diagnosis like IBS may describe symptoms, but it does not always explain why they are happening. Functional medicine asks deeper questions to better understand what may be driving gut dysfunction in the first place.

When people come to me with an IBS diagnosis, we explore:
▪️ Microbiome imbalances
▪️ Chronic stress
▪️ Nervous system dysregulation
▪️ Nutrient deficiencies
▪️ Intestinal permeability
▪️ Unresolved infections

Because healing starts with understanding the “why” behind the symptoms.
You deserve care that looks at the whole picture, not just the symptom list.

There is nothing more meaningful to me than helping clients feel supported, heard, and empowered in their health journey. 🤍

Healing is not about perfection or judgment. It is about understanding your body, creating sustainable changes, and building a foundation for long-term wellness.

Thank you, T., for your kind words and trust.

Anxiety is not always “just stress.” Hormones may be part of the conversation, too.

When progesterone levels are low, some women may experience:
▪️ Racing thoughts
▪️ Feeling “wired but tired”
▪️ Increased anxiety before their cycle
▪️ Poor sleep
▪️ Heightened stress sensitivity

The body’s systems are deeply interconnected, and hormone imbalances can sometimes manifest emotionally before anything else.

Nutrition Challenge: How Many Plants Can You Eat This Week? 🌱

It’s simple. Count your plants.

Not your calories.
Not your macros.
✔️ Just your plants.

How many different plant foods can you eat between now and next week?

Leafy greens, berries, oats, beans, herbs, nuts, seeds, colorful veggies, fresh fruit, and even spices all count.

Start simple:
▪️Aim for 10 as your baseline.
▪️Feeling bold? Go for 20.
▪️Want the full challenge? Try for 30.

The goal is not perfection. It is diversity. Your gut will thank you.

One of the questions I get asked most often is: What should I eat?

People want to know if I follow Paleo, plant-based, Mediterranean, or something else entirely.

My honest answer? A little bit of all of them.

I don’t believe the best health comes from forcing yourself into one dietary label. I believe it comes from understanding what works for your body and building a sustainable framework around that.

For me, that looks like:
▪️ Gluten-free as much as possible to reduce inflammation and support digestion
▪️ Mediterranean-inspired meals with olive oil, fatty fish, legumes, and whole foods
▪️ Prioritizing protein for blood sugar balance, hormones, and energy
▪️ Eating a wide variety of plants to support gut health and microbiome diversity

The goal is not to follow one perfect plan. It is creating an eating pattern that supports your health over the long term.

Sleep Challenge: Pick one sleep habit you are not currently doing and commit to it for the next seven days.

Here are some options:
▪️Put your phone away 30 minutes before bed.
▪️Keep a consistent wake time.
▪️Cut off caffeine after noon.
▪️Make your bedroom cooler and darker (blackout curtains are a great way to do this!)
You do not need a complete routine overhaul. You just need consistency.

If screens are your thing, too, you are not alone.
▪️ Try moving your phone to another room at a set time tonight. This one small change can make a big difference.

Small habits create stronger routines, and stronger routines create better rest.

Sleep is not a luxury. It is one of the foundations of your health.

Poor sleep affects far more than energy levels. It impacts inflammation, hormones, blood sugar, immune function, mood, digestion, and your ability to recover.
When sleep is off, everything feels harder.

That is why good sleep hygiene matters. Good sleep hygiene means creating the right conditions for your body to rest well:
▪️Keep a consistent wake time
▪️Keep your room cool and dark
▪️Put screens away at least 30 minutes before bed
▪️Avoid caffeine after noon
▪️Slow down at night instead of speeding up

And yes, screens matter.

Late-night scrolling or “just one more episode” can keep cortisol elevated and signal to your brain that it is still daytime, making it harder to achieve quality sleep.

Sleep hygiene is not about perfection. It is about supporting your body, so rest comes more naturally. Your body wants to sleep. Help it get there.

Movement Challenge: Take an honest look at your current routine. What’s missing?

▪️Are you doing cardio but skipping strength?
▪️Lifting but never walking?
▪️Moving constantly but never slowing down enough to recover?

The goal isn’t more. It’s about balance.

💪 And ladies, please don’t be afraid to lift heavy weights.

I hear it all the time: “I don’t want to bulk up.” Here’s the truth: lifting heavy will not make you bulky. It will help you build strength, support your metabolism, protect bone health, and create long-term resilience.

Muscle is your friend, especially as we age. Strength is healthy and is something worth building.
