A bittersweet announcement from Quality Behavioral Coaching. 🤍

After several incredibly meaningful years, the time has come to officially close the chapter of Quality Behavioral Coaching as I return to the professional journey of becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

When QBC began, I could not have imagined how many lives I would have the privilege of being a small part of in such a short amount of time.

Through parent coaching, behavioral consultation, professional development, collaboration with educators, and direct work alongside families, QBC has allowed me to meet some truly incredible children, parents, teachers, professionals, and community partners.

To every family who trusted me with their child, every educator who welcomed me into their classroom, every organization that invited me to collaborate or present, and every person who referred a family to QBC: thank you.

Your trust allowed Quality Behavioral Coaching to become far more than a business. It became an opportunity to advocate, educate, problem-solve, encourage families, celebrate progress, and continue growing as a professional.

Although QBC’s time has come to an end, my work within the behavioral field has not.

I am excited to share that I have returned to my journey toward becoming a BCBA and am continuing to build upon the education, experience, and lessons these past several years have given me.

Sometimes growth requires being willing to close a chapter you love in order to make room for the next one.

Thank you for allowing Quality Behavioral Coaching to be part of your families, schools, classrooms, and communities.

🌱 Rooted in Regulation™ went into the classroom today.

Today I Eden Caroline Mabry had the privilege of returning to to lead their teachers through Rooted in Regulation™ Professional Development — and there was one message I wanted us to begin with:

Regulation doesn’t begin with the child. It begins with the adult.

Before we talked about student behavior, we talked about ourselves.

What happens when life follows us into the classroom?
What happens when our capacity changes?
What happens between the first thought we have and the response we choose?

Together, we practiced how to PAUSE, recognize capacity, separate truth from assumption, extend grace without removing accountability, and intentionally choose the next right response.

And then the room got to work. 🤍

Teachers reflected on real experiences, found common ground with one another, and went back through moments that could have gone differently — not to judge what happened, but to practice what could happen next time.

Because regulation isn’t perfection.

It’s practice.

One of my favorite reminders from today was:

Grace doesn’t remove accountability.
It creates a safe place from which to practice it.

And ultimately, that’s what we want to create for the children entrusted to us, too.

Classrooms where students can learn.
Relationships where people can grow.
And teachers who have permission to be human while they lead.

To the teachers and staff at Christian Academy: thank you for your openness, your participation, your vulnerability, and the conversations you brought into the room today. It was such a privilege to learn with you again.

Today during one of our Rooted in Regulation Enrichment sessions, one simple question changed the entire lesson.

“Would you rather start over… or find out for yourself?”

Today we were making sensory bags and experimenting what our outcomes would be while practicing leadership skills in the unpredictable circumstances.

Earlier in class, one student added water to his bag. It wouldn’t seal, and after trying several times, he eventually had to throw it away and start over.

A few minutes later, another student found herself at the exact same decision. She wanted to add water too. We talked through the risks.
We talked through what had just happened.

Even another student looked at her and said,
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens.”

So I asked her, “Would you like to throw it away and start fresh, or would you rather try sealing it one more time, knowing it still might not work?”

She paused. Then she said something I’ll never forget.

“I’d rather try again and make the mistake than assume it wouldn’t work to begin with.”

So we tried again. The first seal didn’t hold.
Neither did the second. But on the third attempt…

It sealed! Her face expressed more than just feeling proud but experiencing what resilience truly feels like!

It did not seal because anyone promised it would or because we removed the possibility of failure. But because she chose perseverance over assumption.

Today’s lesson wasn’t really about sensory bags. It was about giving someone the freedom to make an informed decision, standing beside them while they lived with the outcome, and allowing resilience to grow through experience rather than control.

As parents, teachers, and leaders, we often feel responsible for protecting people from every mistake.

But sometimes our greatest gift isn’t preventing failure. It’s remaining connected while someone discovers what they’re capable of.

Growth isn’t built by always getting it right.
It’s built when people know they’re trusted enough to keep trying.

🌱 That’s the kind of environment I hope to keep creating.

Do I want compliance… or do I want growth?

At first, those two ideas can look the same.

A child obeys.
An employee follows directions.
A student gets quiet.

But quiet doesn’t always mean growth.

Sometimes it means someone has simply learned what’s expected while they’re being watched.

Growth is different.

Growth happens when understanding changes behavior—even when no one is watching.

As parents, teachers, and leaders, our goal isn’t just to manage behavior in the moment.

It’s to help people develop the understanding, confidence, and self-control that lasts beyond our presence.

🌱 That’s the difference between compliance and growth.
