Often times the loss of a dog is misunderstood by friends and family who don't feel the same about pets as you do. Well meaning comments are sent your way, but land wrong because many people just don't know what to say. This leaves you feeling hurt and alone when you need a shoulder to cry on and someone to understand just how much your dog has meant to you. There is a term for this - Disenfranchised Grief.
