Summer Safety - Heat & Hydration 😓💧 Summer heat can be dangerous and hydration needs to be a priority.

😓 Kids' bodies heat up faster than adults' bodies. Build regular water breaks into every hour of play.

🔥Hot Car Warning: Never leave a child or pet unattended in a car, even for a minute.

🔥Hot Surface Warning: Test metal/plastic slides, swings, and playground equipment with your hand first to prevent burns.

Summer Safety -Sun Protection 🌞 Outdoor fun during the summer is great, but be prepared and plan accordingly to avoid too much sun exposure.

🌞Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher 30 minutes BEFORE heading out.

🌞Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and immediately AFTER swimming.

🌞Avoid peak hours - UV rays are strongest between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

😎Use wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and UV-blocking swim shirts.

🌞Don't forget that dogs 🐶 can get sunburned too - avoid taking them out during the strongest UV rays between 10 a.m.-4 p.m..

Summer Safety - Pool Safety 🛟 Playtime in the pool is a summer favorite but water safety must be a priority.

🛟Designate a "Water Watcher" - assign an adult to focus only on the kids - no phones or reading.

🛟Keep rescue equipment nearby and have a phone available for emergencies.

🛟Enroll children in swim lessons as early as possible to build survival skills.
