Thank you Whidbey Community Foundation and Campus Stewards!

Our recent site visit brought us to the South Whidbey Community Center, where Campus Stewards is reimagining what it means to care for and activate a shared community space.

As a volunteer-led nonprofit, they are dedicated to stewarding the Community Center as a welcoming, multi-use campus—supporting the many organizations and people who rely on this space.

In 2025, Campus Stewards received a Nonprofit Capacity Building grant from the Whidbey Community Foundation to strengthen their marketing and communications—including the development of a new website and more cohesive digital presence.

This kind of investment may seem small, but it’s foundational. By telling their story more clearly and reaching more people, Campus Stewards is building the visibility and support needed to sustain and grow this vital community hub.

Dear Friends,

With love and gratitude for a life that touched so many, we invite you to join us in celebrating the life of Janet Hunter.

Janet was a deeply loved teacher and counselor who devoted nearly four decades to the South Whidbey community. Her thoughtful impact on students and friends was shaped by her unwavering generosity of spirit. Above all, Janet’s deepest joy and greatest pride was being a mother to Madyson and Kohl, a devotion that will always be remembered.

Celebration of Life Service
Date: Sunday, April 26
Time: 2:00 PM
Location: South Whidbey Community Centers Main (Upper) Gym -723 Camano Avenue, Langley. Signs will be posted for directions.

A reception will follow immediately after the service, where we hope to continue sharing stories, laughter, and memories together.
