This is Marco, our Italian tour guide. He has been with us on our journey to discover much of Italy and Greece. He’s observed us at our best and worst.

I’m going to be honest, going on these trips by myself is not easy. Most of the participants bring their significant other or best friend. You don’t know anyone and often you don’t know the hurdles you’ll encounter on the trip. But the truth is, it’s always meaningful. Traveling forces me out of my comfort zone and opens my mind to other ways of life. You begin to understand the world from a bigger lens.

Marco gave us his parting words yesterday. β€œDon’t stop traveling. Travel forces us to face our fears. May you enjoy this walk through life. Keep traveling.”

As we end our trip, most are tired, but fufilled from the adventure that raged on from city to city. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves: what we value, what we will tolerate, what we won’t, and what’s important to us. Not everyone values the same things, traveling with a group teaches you about who you are. This is VERY important.

Don’t stop challenging yourself. Don’t be afraid to try new things and face your fears. It’s worth it.

What keeps us immature?

Our public displays of nonsense.
Our internal cultures valuing cliques over quality & professionalism.
Our disjointed voice for the profession.
Our lack of baseline financial sustainability.
Our egos and assumptions.
Our mafioso mentality.
Our willingness to accommodate any and all.
Our respect for choices that decrease our wellness and longevity.
Our capitulation.
Our 6 million names for our profession and job titles and 100 million different uniform options.
Our inability to reach agreements and drive the boat.

Yes, I take full responsibility. Time to grow up EMS.
