Congratulations Timmy on receiving a scholarship from Ruby’s Rainbow! Timmy is part of the Inclusive Post-Secondary Education program here at the University of Wyoming. We are very proud of him and excited for him to have a great semester!

Ruby’s Rainbow is a non-profit organization that helps students with down syndrome acheve their higher education dreams and spread awareness.

This past weekend was the ribbon cutting ceremony for Laramie's new bike park!

Located behind the Laramie Rec Center at 820 Regency Drive, the new Laramie Bike Park includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced mountain bike features, including downhill trails, a skills course, progressive jump lines, and Wyoming’s first asphalt pump track.

As part of the ribbon cutting and adaptive recreation demonstration, attendees had the opportunity to see adaptive mountain bikes throughout the park, learn about the wide range of adaptive mountain bike technologies available today, and explore how different disabilities require different equipment and design considerations.

Participants also had the opportunity to speak directly with Joe Stone, founder of Unified Dirt, a company dedicated to improving accessibility and usability on trails and public lands across the United States. Drawing from his experience as a wheelchair user and his knowledge of outdoor recreation systems, Joe works with land managers, government agencies, and nonprofits to assess trails, provide design recommendations, and help create more equitable access to nature for people of all abilities.

Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources (WATR), part of the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND), also had an adaptive bike from the WATR lab on display during the event. WATR works to meet the assistive technology needs of individuals with disabilities and provides resources and information about available assistive technology.

We are thrilled to welcome Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources (WATR) to the stage for the 2026 Wyoming Parent Information Center Annual Conference!

In their highly informative and hands-on session, "Reducing Challenging Behaviors with AAC and Increasing Literacy with AEM," representatives from WATR will explore how communication and access support both behavior and learning.

During this session, families and educators will learn how to:

Use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to reduce frustration and challenging behaviors in everyday routines.

Utilize Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) to support children with print disabilities and reading challenges.

Recognize signs that accessible materials may be needed and implement practical strategies that support communication, independence, and positive behavior.
