Ihoma Healthcare Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month

This October, Ihoma Healthcare proudly recognizes National Disability Employment Awareness Month—a time to celebrate the talents, contributions, and potential of people with disabilities in the workforce. At Ihoma, we believe meaningful employment is about more than earning a paycheck. It’s about purpose, independence, confidence, and having the opportunity to contribute to your community.Through our Employment Readiness supports, we help people develop the skills needed to prepare for the workplace—from building routines and workplace behaviors to strengthening communication, organization, and confidence. And through Supported Employment – Remote Supports Services, technology can provide an additional layer of support while promoting greater independence on the job.The goal is simple: provide the right support, at the right time, without unnecessarily taking away a person’s independence. This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Ihoma Healthcare celebrates workers with disabilities, inclusive employers, and communities that recognize what every person can contribute.Because opportunity should be accessible to everyone.

🚨 If This Doesn't Make You Rethink Disability...Nothing Will 🚨
In this powerful and perspective‑shifting episode of Disability Discussions with Ihoma Healthcare, the hosts challenge long‑held assumptions about what disability means, how it is experienced, and how society often misunderstands it. Through real stories, thoughtful dialogue, and sharp myth‑busting moments, the conversation invites listeners to reconsider the narratives they’ve been taught, and to recognize disability as a natural, diverse, and deeply human part of life.
The episode explores the everyday realities of disabled individuals, highlighting the strengths, creativity, resilience, and agency that are too often overlooked. It also examines the barriers created not by disability itself, but by environments, attitudes, and systems that fail to accommodate or include. By the end, listeners gain a clearer understanding of how meaningful inclusion is built, why representation matters, and how small shifts in thinking can transform the way we support and engage with disabled people.
This episode is designed to spark reflection, challenge bias, and inspire a more informed, compassionate, and equitable approach to disability, making it one of the most thought‑provoking conversations in the series.

At the recent AI & Future Workforce Summit hosted by the DC Department on Disability Services, Ihoma Healthcare had the opportunity to share something we believe deeply. That technology is most powerful when it helps people live fuller, more independent lives. We connected with service coordinators, fellow providers, and members of the community to talk about what assistive technology and remote supports can make possible. We presented real examples, from real people.
Our goal for attending the conference was truly realized. That goal was to help the Community realize that independence looks different for every person and that person-centered care is the central component and driving force of assistive technology and remote support services.
