In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to spotlight Taryn Durant, LCPC, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in exercise therapy, CBT, family therapy, and group therapy.

Taryn shares an important message about why BIPOC/Black mental health matters: systemic and cultural barriers can keep our Black community trapped—including stigma, lack of access, and clinical spaces that don’t always feel safe or culturally responsive.

Taryn also highlights something many clients say out loud: having mental health professionals who look like you hits different. It can feel more affirming, more comfortable, and more empowering to receive support from someone who understands the cultural context without you having to explain every detail.

Taryn is passionate about integrating exercise therapy with evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic techniques. With experience supporting children, individuals, and families, Taryn offers compassionate, personalized care to help clients navigate life with more clarity, confidence, and emotional wellness.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re featuring Andre, sharing why BIPOC mental health matters—because not everyone has the same access to care, or the same understanding of what mental health support can look like.

When barriers like cost, stigma, language, culture, and past experiences get in the way, people can go years carrying stress alone instead of getting the support they deserve.

Andre is a Master of Social Work student with a background in School Counseling, bringing a culturally aware and empathetic approach to mental health. As an immigrant, Andre is passionate about supporting youth, families, adults, and immigrant communities through life transitions and emotional challenges. With experience as a School Counselor and Assistant Teacher, working with children with autism, emotional disabilities, and learning differences, Andre is committed to compassionate, collaborative care that strengthens families and promotes overall well-being.

Because support should feel safe, understood, and within reach.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting Liliana Valdez, B.S., Infinite Wellness counseling intern at Infinite Wellness Counseling—supporting clients through self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

As a proud member of the Latino community, Liliana speaks to why BIPOC mental health matters: for many communities, historical trauma has gone untreated and unacknowledged for generations, impacting how people cope, connect, and carry stress today. Healing isn’t just personal—it’s also cultural, collective, and deeply deserving of care.

Liliana holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and is currently working toward her M.A. in Counseling Psychology. Her approach is collaborative and skills-based—teaching healthy coping tools and offering “homework” so clients can practice what they learn in real life, day by day.

If you’re ready to build confidence, strengthen coping, and feel more grounded through change, you don’t have to do it alone.

Call us at 301-701-5576, email us at [email protected], or visit our website at www.infinitewellnesstherapy.com to explore our services.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re spotlighting Lynette Saunders, B.S., Social Work Intern, sharing why BIPOC mental health matters.

Many BIPOC communities carry added layers of stress—from navigating systemic barriers to daily life pressures—making access to culturally responsive support more important than ever.

Lynette reminds us that healing starts with having a space where you can be seen, heard, and supported without judgment.

As a Prince George’s County native and Master of Social Work candidate at Walden University, Lynette is passionate about working with families, teens, and young adults. She’s committed to providing compassionate, client-centered support that promotes growth, resilience, and overall well-being.

If you’ve been holding everything together for everyone else, consider this your reminder: you deserve support, too.

Book with us today by giving us a call at 301-701-5576 or visit our website at www.infinitewellnesstherapy.com to discover our services and therapists who are available to help.
