1. Avoid perfumes, scented items, candles, aerosol sprays (like lysol and febreze)
2. Switch to unscented natural ingredient laundry detergent and don't use fabric softeners
3. Use natural dishwasher detergent and hand soaps

I stopped dead in my tracks at the store when I saw the giant holiday baking display loaded with the usual suspects… seed oils, bleached flour, artificial dyes, refined sugars.

If you’ve got any of these hiding in your pantry, now’s the perfect time to swap them before holiday baking kicks in.

Here are 4 easy swaps that make a big difference:

1. Cooking Oil
Skip anything labeled “vegetable oil” (canola, soybean, corn, cottonseed). They’re ultra-processed from GMO seeds heavily treated with pesticides. Choose organic coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or real butter instead.

2. Flour
Bleached processed flour is stripped of nutrients and often from wheat sprayed with Roundup. Choose organic flours like whole white wheat, sprouted, oat, or spelt.

3. Sugar
White and brown sugars are usually from GMO crops treated with pesticides. Use organic coconut sugar instead in most recipes!

4. Food Colors
Artificial dyes (Red 40, Yellow 5) come from petroleum and are linked to hyperactivity in children and cancer. Choose natural color kits made from turmeric, spirulina, and beets.

If everyone made these healthier swaps, our stores would stop carrying all those toxic products and give us more good options!
