Yoga Therapy for people who thought yoga wasn't for them.

I headed to my mountain today for a little movement and a reminder of something I teach often:

Stress isn’t just a mental experience. It’s a physiological one.

When we’re stressed, our bodies prepare for action. Movement helps complete that stress response cycle and signals to the nervous system that the threat has passed. Walking, hiking, yoga, dancing, gardening—it all counts.

If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, tense, or stuck, consider moving your body before trying to force yourself to relax.

The nervous system doesn’t always need another coping strategy. Sometimes it just needs a walk.

Yoga Teacher Confession: I straighten mats everywhere I go. Today it was at the vet. Tomorrow… who knows. 😂

What if the pose isn't the point?

One of the most common hip openers taught in yoga is Pigeon Pose. For some bodies, it can be a wonderful option. For others, a different approach may provide similar benefits with greater comfort and support.

That's the inspiration behind my new series:

✨ Teaching the Body, Not the Pose: Therapeutic Adaptations for Real Bodies ✨

In this series, we'll explore common yoga poses through a therapeutic lens, looking beyond the shape of the pose and asking a different question:

How does this pose support the body?

Because yoga should adapt to the body—not the other way around.

What pose would you like to see explored next?

A reminder that movement doesn’t have to be complicated to count. 🚲🧘‍♀️
