I like the way Abraham Lincoln said it best, 'Am I not damaging my opponents when I make good friends of them?' I don't know the number of you, my readers, have real opponents, arch nemeses, foes or enemies as these descriptions seem rather extreme, however in company at the minimum, in some cases rivalries occur. What is essential to bear in mind is that these rivalries require not specify or restrain us. Contrary to what we see in the films, most people are actually simply searching for a friendly face. Individuals are constantly looking for a friendly face. They're trying to find somebody to acknowledge them and it makes no difference who you are, where you're going, what you're doing, they are searching for this acknowledgment. Individuals are sending out the signal trying to find friendlies looking for people who are going to be nice to them. And most of the time, the world overlooks them. Here's an important thing to bear in mind as a persuader: You are going to get ignored. You will put yourself out there, open yourself up and individuals are going to flat out disregard you. But that's okay. This is a developed cynicism. They do not know better. You do. And you'll know how to influence them in a heartbeat. So here's a weird incongruity-- how is it that what individuals really, genuinely desire in life is to be acknowledged and accepted and yet they wind up not paying any attention when other individuals are acknowledging and accepting them? We are all conditioned. That's something. We set up boundaries at an early stage. Maybe we're protecting ourselves versus rejection, safeguarding ourselves from disappointment. We're trying to maintain a wall that separates us from the 'crazies' out there and we've chosen to look down at our feet and appear occupied rather of extending our energy. And despite all of this, in spite of the truth that you WILL be declined, let us dedicate to stop ignoring individuals and to cutting back on our own disrespect. Obviously this disrespect isn't confined to the U.S, however it's certainly not as widespread in other countries. Other cultures are rather various in terms of their unconscious hellos and a general openness to welcoming people. Numerous years ago I checked out a Latin American country where I was woefully ignorant of their specific method of greeting. And I say woefully, due to the fact that I had actually not only misinterpreted, but I had actually evaluated in the process. When I came to the airport, I noticed the welcoming right away and instantly misinterpreted it. The male tipped his head back and pushed his lips out at me. Rather of realizing this was a welcoming, I took it as him striking on me, as in, hi, I wish to kiss you. As I went through the day and night, I experienced the very same treatment everywhere I went. Was I all of the unexpected a really hot commodity in the gay community? Nope. I wasn't producing a different ambiance. And yet over and over I was challenged with males who apparently wished to kiss me. Well ... As quick as I like to believe I am ... EVENTUALLY, I understood what was going on. A fellow member of the spiritual group I was working with did the precise very same thing and I was specific he was not wanting to hook up with another male. That's when it occurred to me. The constricted and restricted cultural frame I was looking through instantly expanded and I began seeing EVERYONE was doing the exact same precise thing. Once I recognized this, I started to immediately mirror the behavior and my pain became approval.
