We could all come up with some pretty good excuses as to why we can’t accomplish our goals in life, whether they are health and fitness specific or not. Given that my awesome client Whitney is a mother, tech industry professional, and Ph.D. student finishing up her graduate studies, she has a ton on her plate and plenty of valid reasons to put her health on the back burner, but she hasn’t, one bit at all. Of course there have been ups and downs and setbacks along the way, but she hasn’t let that stop here from losing 41 pounds now since we started working together.
As impressed with Whitney and proud of her results as I am, I don’t just post these stories just to showcase the fitness success my clients accomplish when they consistently work with me, but also to highlight what is possible, regardless of your starting point and obstacles in the way, when you have a great exercise and nutrition strategy to follow and adhere to consistently. I have gone to PT several times but Dustin helps more than they do . When I am hurting he always knows what exercise to do to help the injury and alleviate the pain.

Here’s a delicious dish that is a staple on Italian menus everywhere, very healthy, and is always a big hit whether cooking for friends or just family. If people just said it tastes good they could just be blowing smoke up my, well you know what. But, they actually ask for the recipe after trying it, which I believe means that they truly savor my flavors, or they’re just trying to flatter me 😊. Anyhow, here are the details: You’ll need 2 lbs chicken thighs, 1/2 onion, 8 oz mushrooms, 1 bell pepper, salt, garlic, and onion powder, Italian seasoning and 1.5-2 jars of organic marinara. Parmesan or other cheese can be added on top for extra flavor too.

Take organic chicken thighs, sprinkle with seasoning then bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes till they’re almost done (slightly pink in middle) and at the same time chop up onions, mushrooms, bell peppers to get ready.
Pour the juice from the thighs from the dish and add in the mushrooms, then bell peppers and cover with your marinara sauce. Spread the onions throughout and press them into the marinara as well before sprinkling more garlic, onion, and Italian seasoning. You can now add some mozzarella or Parmesan on top if you want some warm, gooey dairy deliciousness to top it off.
Put it back in the oven for another 20-30 minutes for all the veggies to cook and chicken to finish as well. Once the time’s up let it cool about 10 minutes or so and then chow down 😋!

This one is killer routine for those looking to greatly fortify their upper chest and add some functional mass to their upper back too! Women, if you aren’t so concerned with pec (muscle) development, just move your hands closer together when doing the presses to emphasize your triceps more to keep the back of your arms strong, tone, and firm, so they don’t wave a second time when you do the first 😂

Do the A exercises as your first superset, and after completing all the listed sets of those do the B, C, then D exercises. For your warm up do two sets with lighter weights of each of the A and B exercises
A1. Smith machine incline barbell press 6-8x4
A2. One arm dbell rows 6-8x4
B1. High Incline hammer strength chest press machine 8-10x4
B2. Overhand lat pulldowns 6-8 then underhand with same weight 3-6 x 4
C1. Incline alternating dbell chest press 16-20x3
C2. Seated cable rows 10-12x3
D1. Box pushups 12-15x2
D2. Cable straight arm pressdowns 13-15x2

I’M SO FORTUNATE to get this incredible news the other day from my friend, client, snowboarding buddy, and attorney extraordinaire David Krieger (Hanes & Krieger Llc). Having dedicated, tenacious clients like this to work with makes my job seem like a walk in the park (as long as that park’s not in the middle of the summer in Vegas 😂)

He’s been looking leaner than ever lately, so I knew some really awesome improvements were in the works, but I had no idea he had made this much incredible progress over the last few months. Back in March he was hovering around 260 pounds (still amazing from his start at 398 POUNDS) and when he stepped on the scale recently it was an astonishing 210!!!
He’s worked his ass off (literally 🙊) and made the dramatic lifestyle changes necessary to illicit such improvements, and now he’s obviously reaping the fruits of his labor (in moderation of course 🍐🍌🍒).

A big shout out to Greens & Proteins restaurant and FoodieFit food prep as well. Running a high demand law firm doesn’t afford David a ton of time for grocery shopping or cooking, so these two awesome fine food providers have been instrumental to helping him eat the foods he enjoys while at the same time making the progress we want. SO DAMNED EXCITED to see my friend and client Corey Taylor, and the rest of the 9 from Slipknot, take the stage here in Phoenix tomorrow night !!!!
I don’t think I’m getting a wink of sleep at all tonight, not one little bit. Working with Corey (lead singer) as his trainer for more than a year now has been an absolute dream come true, especially since I’ve rocked out to their music for over 20 years strong. And even better yet, it’ll be my son Slade’s first real concert experience and part of his 9th birthday celebration weekend. I don’t think it gets much better than this for a metalhead dad like me 🤘🏼😊🤘🏼

Pharmacists are typically regarded as pretty intelligent people. My client and neighborhood pharmacist Jason is a REALLY intelligent guy (and just as nice, too 😊). Makes me wonder why he chose to train with me then 😂 Anyhow, lucky for us both he gave me the opportunity to help him with his goal of losing 40 pounds back when we started and it ended up working out (figuratively and literally) REALLY WELL. He actually LOST 43 POUNDS since the start and now we’re moving onto even more challenging objectives since that one is out of the way. Why not shoot for even better things now, right ?!?!?

I'm nuts about nuts.... and for good reason. They provide a significant dose of tummy filling, body energizing, heart fortifying fats. Compared to other food sources, the right "healthy" fats (like the nuts shown) have been proven to improve cardiovascular markers in people when eaten regularly.
Nuts also have a decent amount of fiber that will help you stay full longer, and keep your digestive system humming along 😬 And compared to other energy sources (i.e. Starchy carbs 😱) nuts are an extremely consistent and reliable energy source that has little to no effect on your blood sugar levels.
They are very calorically dense though so a little bit, like a small handful or 1/4 cup per serving, goes a long way. Don't over eat them as tasty and tempting as they may be, too much of a good thing IS NOT a good thing, especially when a small hand l is about 180 calories worth of almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews, and macadamia nuts. Get the point?? So hopefully everyone saw my post a few days ago about the amazing transformation my client Kris has made by losing after 150 pounds so far, and I mentioned his incredible other half as well, his fiancé Andalynn. Well, here’s the jaw dropping makeover she’s worked for thus far that continues to impress myself, and all those at the gym, who have seen her dramatic improvements unfold right in front of them too (literally, she gets compliments constantly since it’s so rare to see such admirable improvements from the average gym member).
45 POUNDS is a lot of WEIGHT FOR ANYONE TO LOSE, but considering she wasn’t too overweight to start out, it’s quite the remarkable feat. HOWEVER, she’s such a hard working badass that it shouldn’t be a shocker to me that she accomplished a physique that any women would be thrilled to possess as their own after LOSING 45 POUNDS 😃!!!!! Exercise that one enjoys, a nutrition plan that is sustainable long term, and reasonable accountability is the winning formula to create highly enviable results like these. Maybe it’s time you gave it a shot???
