I met David 18 years ago at a psytrance party in Los Angeles. At the time, I had a boyfriend who later became my husband, and together we had two amazing daughters. Life continued, and David and I followed our own separate paths. Throughout the years, we remained connected indirectly through mutual friends from our psytrance family.

Six years ago, I got divorced. Three years ago, I attended a psytrance festival at Red Marines in Northern California, and that is where David and I reconnected. This time, we were both ready.

On the first night of the festival, we sat together on a swing and talked for three hours. The next day, we went for a walk to explore nature, continuing to share our stories and get to know each other on a deeper level. On the last day, before David left to go home, he came and sat beside me and asked me to save my phone number in his phone. From that point on, we could hardly be apart. I lived in Las Vegas, and David lived in Nevada City, California. As we often said, we wanted to respect everyone’s nervous systems—ours and my daughters’.

After a year of long-distance love, David moved to Las Vegas and we moved in together.

We have now been living together for over a year. Last weekend, we attended a psytrance celebration marking 20 years of Psytribe. It was an incredible reunion filled with friends and memories from across the years. On Saturday, David surprised me. He gathered our friends and took us to a beautiful sunset viewpoint.

There, surrounded by the people we love, he got down on one knee and proposed. I had waited my whole life for a man like David. Over the years, I did so much healing and inner work to become ready for the love I truly wanted. David did the same. We found each other again when we were both prepared to receive the kind of love we had always hoped for.

Sometimes the right person arrives twice first as a possibility, and later as a destiny.

And now, we get to spend the rest of our lives together.

In Return to Life Through Contrology book, Joseph Pilates expands on the idea of circulation as the body’s life-giving flow—like a river moving through us. He connected movement, breath, and control (“Contrology,” his original name for Pilates) with keeping that internal river flowing freely, something he believed was essential for true health and vitality.

“Circulation is the river of life. As a river flows, so does the blood circulate throughout the body, carrying nourishment to every cell and removing waste… Contrology restores this vital flow, bringing renewed health and vitality.”

14 years ago, when I went to Boulder, Colorado to finish my Master’s at The Pilates Center, it was also my 30th birthday. I spent a full week there—staying in a small cabin tucked beside the mountains and a flowing river. Each day I went into the studio for my practice hours, then returned to the cabin and sat for hours by the water.

One afternoon, with my feet in the river, I was reading Return to Life. In that moment, I didn’t just understand his words—I felt them. I felt what he meant about creating a river inside your body. The flow, the energy, the connection. It wasn’t just theory anymore. It was alive in me.

A few weeks ago, I was in a car accident.
A woman hit me from behind.

Car accidents have always been one of my deepest fears.
My father was killed in a car accident just months before I was born I carry his name with me every day.

I also feel a very deep connection with him.
He is here when I need him.

This wasn’t my first accident… but it was the first time it wasn’t my fault.
And that shook me in a different way.

The morning after, I woke up with intense vertigo — the kind that makes the world spin when you simply get out of bed.
That’s when I truly learned, in my own body, what trauma can feel like.

A few days later, the pain settled into my lower back and hip.
So I did what I know — I moved, I listened, I worked with my body.
Private Pilates sessions. Support. Care. Healing.

Four weeks later I’m about 80% back physically.
No more vertigo. Just some lingering stiffness.

But the deeper work? That’s been mental.

I’ve been facing a very old fear.
Letting go of control.
Rebuilding trust.

The other day, I finished teaching and got into my car.
The fear came back — of driving, of other drivers.

I cried.
I told my dad how much I miss him.

And then… a Volkswagen passed right next to me.
The new electric van but it looked just like the old hippy van.
The same kind of car my dad was in when he passed.

I found myself driving behind it.
And in that moment, I felt him with me.

Holding me.
Supporting me.
Giving me strength and love.

I can’t control how others drive, act, or behave.
But I can choose to trust again.

These past weeks, I’ve released so much.
And I’m still learning.

Learning to sit with it.
Learning to soften.
Learning to dance with my shadow… instead of running from it.

Healing isn’t just physical.
And sometimes the deepest work is the quietest one.

Last weekend in our Teacher Training Program Level III✨

So much growth, so much learning, and so much deeper connection to the work. Every layer we peel back reminds me how powerful and precise this method truly is.

It is such an honor to teach Classical Pilates and to carry on its legacy with intention, respect, and passion. Grateful for this journey, for the mentors who guide us, and for the opportunity to keep evolving—both as a teacher and as a student.

The work never gets easier… we just get stronger within it 🤍

Your body was never designed to work in parts.

Real strength comes from connection
where every movement supports the whole system.

This is why Pilates feels different.
Because it is. 🧚💕

In a world obsessed with constant variety…
Classical Pilates teaches mastery.

We repeat the same repertoire.
Same order. Same exercises.

Not because we lack creativity.
But because repetition builds awareness.

And awareness builds precision.
Precision builds control.
Control builds transformation.

That’s why it never gets boring.
It gets deeper.

If you’re ready to experience Pilates the way it was meant to be practiced — structured, intentional, powerful — I’d love to guide you.
