Testosterone is a hormone produced by the human body. It’s mainly produced in men by the testicles. Testosterone affects a man’s appearance and s*xual development. It stimulates s***m production as well as a man’s s*x drive. It also helps build muscle and bone mass.

Testosterone production typically decreases with age. According to the American Urological Association, about 2 out of 10 men older than 60 years have low testosterone. That increases slightly to 3 out of 10 men in their 70s and 80s.

Understanding How Testosterone Affects Men

The complex effects of testosterone, investigators found, depend partly on its conversion in the body to a type of estrogen. The insights will help guide the development of better ways to diagnose and treat men who don’t produce enough natural testosterone.

Testosterone is a s*x hormone that plays important roles in the body. In men, it’s thought to regulate s*x drive (libido), bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength, and the production of red blood cells and s***m. A small amount of circulating testosterone is converted to estradiol, a form of estrogen. As men age, they often make less testosterone, and so they produce less estradiol as well. Thus, changes often attributed to testosterone deficiency might be partly or entirely due to the accompanying decline in estradiol.

This Is What It Looks Like When You Get a ‘Sculptra Butt Lift’

With the increase of noninvasive options available to treat almost any area of your body you’d like to tweak, there are a lot more solutions that don’t call for going under the knife, which can be a major deterrent for getting cosmetic work done. Up until now, the only options for augmenting your backside were butt implants or a Brazilian Butt Lift, both invasive surgical procedures. Now, there’s a new butt lift gaining popularity and it doesn’t involve surgery. Nicknamed the “Sculptra Butt Lift,” this newer technique involves using a long-lasting dermal filler off-label (meaning for a purpose other than what it’s FDA-approved for) to give your backside a fuller, more lifted look without the risks or downtime associated with more invasive procedures.

I Tried Sculptra — and I Love It

As our generation ages, we seem to do so with more energy — and far fewer lines — than the ladies who came before us, thanks to a deluge of information, technology, and advances in skin care. Those multiple-week “vacations” required for recovery, are now often done over a long lunch.

But what about the facelift? Until recently, the only way to truly lift sagging skin was to cut. Unless you went the filler route. Even the “celebrity lift” required incisions. But no more. Sculptra Aesthetic, Europe’s first facial filler, is on the rise in the United States. Literally.

Confession: I am a skin care addict. I take pride in being an early adopter and dogged anti-aging enthusiast. I started young, but who could blame me? I entered my 30s just as the FDA approved Botox. Going to my dermatologist to check moles proved more motivating as he simultaneously erased a growing 11 furrowed on my forehead. Overly preventive? Absolutely. But then again, subtle lines came early to those of us raised with a naiveté of SPF. So when I heard about Sculptra and learned that the ingenious filler has been on the market for more than a decade — and is replacing the facelift — I took pause. How had I missed the introduction of what my proficient doctor calls “a wonder drug.”

Laser Treatment of Leg Veins

Public interest in laser and light treatment of leg veins is high, and, under the right circumstances, excellent results can be achieved with this treatment modality. With any laser or light source treatment, reverse pressure from associated reticular or varicose veins must be recognized and eliminated; otherwise, the treatment is doomed to fail. Many patients benefit from a combination of treatments such as sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy, and intravascular laser or radiofrequency closure because external lasers and light sources do not effectively treat associated reticular and varicose veins. Lasers can be effective in treating vessels of less than 1-2 mm in diameter that are resistant to sclerotherapy and telangiectatic matting, which can occur postsclerotherapy. However, sclerotherapy remains the criterion standard for the treatment of leg veins and telangiectasias.
