One of our favorite parts of opening Magnolia has been getting to know the other locally owned healthcare businesses serving Lawrenceburg.

This morning we met with the team at Frisbie Apothecary, a patient- and family-centered pharmacy right here in Lawrenceburg. They share our commitment to taking good care of the people in our community.

We also learned there’s a pretty neat connection between Frisbie and Magnolia: the pharmacy’s original owner once practiced out of the same office space that is now Magnolia Surgical Care. The space later became an allergy clinic before eventually becoming our home. We love that little piece of Lawrenceburg healthcare history.

Frisbie Apothecary offers free local delivery, too—a great option for patients and families who may have difficulty getting to the pharmacy.

We’re grateful to have businesses like Frisbie Apothecary here in Lawrenceburg and look forward to working together to take care of our community.

What does a general surgeon actually do?

It's one of the questions I get asked most.

At Magnolia Surgical Care, we treat much more than gallbladders (although I do love a good gallbladder).

We also care for patients with:

• Hernias
• Breast concerns and breast cancer
• Skin cysts and lipomas
• Colon cancer screening with colonoscopy
• Trouble swallowing or reflux (EGD)
• Hemorrhoids
• Soft tissue masses and skin lesions

Between vacations, school breaks, and a little extra flexibility in the schedule, summer can be one of the easiest times of year to take care of an important screening.

At Magnolia Surgical Care, we know a colonoscopy isn't something most people look forward to—but it is one of the most effective ways to prevent colon cancer. During the procedure, precancerous polyps can often be found and removed before they ever become cancer.

If you're 45 or older, or have a family history of colon cancer or colon polyps, now is a great time to talk with your primary care provider or give us a call to see if you're due for screening.
