Today we celebrated Dave’s amazing kidney transplant recovery by attending the National Kidney Foundation annual Kidney Walk in Washington Park!! We joined the Off The List team because of their amazing work and how important they have been to our own personal journey. There are over 100,000 people still in need of a kidney transplant - and we are going to do what we can to support those on their own journeys in finding a donor. Did you know that even though Dave might look fine, he is actually very sick?

His kidneys no longer function, which means toxins are building up in his body because my blood isn't being properly filtered. He deals with extreme fatigue, brain fog, and other challenging symptoms every day. A kidney transplant would give him a second chance at life.

The wait time to get a kidney from a deceased donor can be 3 – 5 years. Dave’s doctors and transplant team have advised him to look for a living donor. Finding a living donor will help him get “off the list” sooner and onto living his life.

He wants to travel again with Meagan, to hike, kayak, and explore. He wants to keep mentoring couples, cooking meals for friends, and watching his nieces and nephews continue to build their lives, achieve their dreams, and experience all the beautiful chapters ahead.

Recently, our time has been dictated by Dave’s energy levels. Simple tasks often exhaust him and longer activities or social engagements will wreak havoc on his body for days afterwards.
