Lately, I've been thinking a lot about access to healthcare.

Over the years, I've met women who delayed getting help because they couldn't leave work, lived too far away, had family responsibilities, or simply couldn't spend hours driving to an appointment.

The truth is, your health shouldn't have to wait until life slows down.

That's one of the reasons I'm leaning even more into telehealth at Seraphym Healthcare.

It means women across Georgia can receive thoughtful, personalized hormone, menopause, and metabolic care from wherever they are without sacrificing the quality of that care.

Because listening, educating, and creating a personalized plan doesn't depend on sitting in the same room.

It depends on having a provider who truly hears you.

Georgia is our office.

I'm excited about what's ahead. 💚

The Little Pink Pill: Is It Really the Answer for Low Libido?

If you've been scrolling social media or watching TV lately, you've probably heard about the little pink pill. But is it really female Vi**ra?

Not exactly.

Let's clear up some of the confusion.

First, let's talk about libido.

Low libido isn't simply not wanting s*x for many women; it's a persistent loss of s*xual desire that causes distress. Maybe you used to have an interest in intimacy, and now... it's just gone.

That doesn't mean something is "wrong" with you.

Our s*x drive is influenced by so many things:

* Hormones
* Stress
* Menopause
* Poor sleep
* Relationship issues
* Depression or anxiety
* Certain medications (especially antidepressants)
* Chronic medical conditions

That's why there's no one-size-fits-all treatment.
So what is the little pink pill?

The medication is called **AddyiÂŽ (flibanserin). Unlike Vi**ra, it doesn't increase blood flow. Instead, it works on certain neurotransmitters in the brain that are involved in s*xual desire. It's considered a **non-hormonal** treatment for women with
Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD)a condition where low s*xual desire is persistent, generalized, and causes significant personal distress.

Who may benefit?

Addyi may be an option for women who:

* Have experienced a significant decrease in s*xual desire
* Feel bothered or distressed by that change
* Don't have another medical, medication-related, or relationship issue that's primarily causing the problem

It's important to remember that not every woman with low libido has HSDD, which is why a thorough evaluation matters.
How is it taken?

This surprises a lot of people.

It's not something you take right before intimacy.

Instead, it's one tablet every night at bedtime and it may take 4–8 weeks to notice improvement. If there's no meaningful benefit after about 8 weeks, your healthcare provider will usually recommend stopping it.
Are there side effects?

Like any prescription medication, yes.

Some women experience:

* Dizziness
* Sleepiness
* Nausea
* Fatigue
* Low blood pressure or fainting in certain situations

There are also important precautions regarding alcohol, liver disease, and interactions with certain medications. That's why it's important to review your full medical history and medication list before starting treatment.

My perspective as a Nurse Practitioner

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:

My hormones are normal, so I guess I just have to live with it.

Not necessarily.

Low libido deserves a conversation not embarrassment.

Sometimes the answer is hormone therapy. Sometimes it's treating vaginal dryness, improving sleep, adjusting a medication, addressing stress, or working through relationship concerns. And sometimes, medications like Addyi are an appropriate option.

The goal isn't simply to prescribe a pill.

The goal is to understand why your desire has changed and create a treatment plan that's right for you.

Because your s*xual health is part of your overall health and you deserve to have that conversation without shame.

Healing you boldly. Treating you softly.

Representation matters more than people realize.
Sometimes mentorship is simply a young person seeing someone who looks like them, understands them, and reminds them that their dreams are possible too💚

Friendly reminder to pour into the youth. They’re paying attention, even when they act like they’re not
