We’ve all heard, “Treat others how you would like to be treated.”

But too often, we treat others with more respect, patience, and grace than we give ourselves.

Self-care also means treating yourself how you keep trying to treat others.

Honor your limits.
Stop over-explaining.
Stop abandoning yourself to keep the peace.

Sometimes healing requires the courage to be disliked.

AND WHAT A COMBO! 💚✨

As someone who once sought mental health support and was met with limited time, invalidation, and feeling unheard, I entered this field with a clear intention: to provide better care.

Early on, I realized those experiences weren’t personal—they were systemic. And that understanding shaped the way I practice today.

That’s why I chose to build something different.

While I’ve been a bit quieter on here, I’ve been growing my own practice with intention—creating space to focus more deeply on what I’m truly passionate about: helping people navigate challenges and move toward becoming the best versions of themselves.

Our insurance panel is growing and we will be accepting Humana/tricare June 1st! :)

What you eat actually becomes the building blocks for how you feel.

Your brain isn’t separate from your body.

It relies on nutrients to make things like serotonin
(mood), dopamine (motivation), and GABA (calm).

Which one do you feel like you need to work on right now? 👇

Your brain actually needs sunlight. ☀️

Taking a moment to enjoy the sunshine after the darker winter months. Even small moments of sunlight can make a difference for mood, energy, and the nervous system.

Sometimes mental health care looks like medication.
Sometimes it looks like stepping outside and letting the sun hit your face.

Both are part of taking care of your mind.

Peaceful Pond Psychiatry is growing — and so is how we approach care.

We’re now partnering with Genomind to offer genetic testing as part of medication planning when appropriate. This testing can help identify how you metabolize certain psychiatric medications and whether you may be more likely to experience side effects or need dose adjustments.

Now accepting new patients in Georgia (virtual).

In-network with:
Aetna
Cigna
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
Carelon
Quest Behavioral Health
Oscar
Optum
United Healthcare
Private pay available.

As we expand, the heart of the practice stays the same: thoughtful care, clear communication, and treatment that feels steady — not rushed.

Schedule through the link in bio.✨

One of the most humbling parts of being a psych NP?
Patients tell me they’re struggling with sleep.

We break it down and calculate total hours…
And they’re getting 6–7 hours.

Then I add up mine.
And realize I’m actually sleeping less. 😭

If you wake up in the middle of the night, here’s what actually helps:
• Don’t check the clock
• Don’t try to force sleep
• Stay still for 10–15 minutes
• If wide awake → get up in dim light
• Slow your breathing (longer exhale than inhale)
• Write down racing thoughts or whatever your brain is rehearsing.
• Read something neutral
• Go back when sleepy

Middle-of-the-night waking is often stress and mental load — not true insomnia.

High-functioning brains fall asleep.

We just don’t always stay asleep.

And here’s the part we forget:

If you’ve already gotten enough total sleep, sometimes starting your day early isn’t a problem.

Not every early wake-up is insomnia.
Sometimes it’s just your body being done.

And to my fellow providers —
Take care of yourselves too. 🤍

Sincerely,
Posting this at 4am.

Sometimes self-care looks like making hard decisions.
I had to pivot my practice because I was being pulled in too many directions — trying to maintain an office while protecting my personal life as a mom.

Choosing yourself isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary if you want to show up fully for others.

For now, I’m fully virtual and accepting clients 🤍
