💜 What Is a Well-Woman Exam? 💜
A well-woman exam is a routine preventive visit focused on screening and maintaining your overall reproductive health.

During your visit, we may discuss or perform:
✅ Health history review
✅ Vital signs and general health screening
✅ Breast exam (when appropriate)
✅ Pelvic exam and/or Pap smear based on age guidelines
✅ Routine STI screening when indicated
✅ Birth control management and counseling

A well-woman exam is designed to focus on prevention and routine screening — not new or urgent symptoms or concerns.

If you're experiencing new symptoms, changes in your health, pain, abnormal bleeding, or other concerns, you may need a separate problem-focused visit so we can fully evaluate and address what's going on.

Both types of visits are important, and we're here to help guide you to the appointment that best fits your needs. 💗

We understand that IUD placement can feel intimidating or anxiety-inducing for some patients — that’s why Lawton Women’s Clinic offers conscious sedation options for IUD placement! 🩺
Conscious sedation can help you feel more relaxed and comfortable during your procedure while still remaining awake and able to respond. Everyone’s pain tolerance and comfort level are different, and you deserve options that help you feel safe and supported throughout your care.
If you’ve been interested in an IUD but have been nervous about the insertion process, give us a call to learn more about whether conscious sedation may be right for you!

What Makes Our Clinic Different from a Traditional OB-GYN Office?

At Lawton Women’s Clinic, we focus only on gynecologic care — which means your visit is centered entirely around your wellness, comfort, and reproductive health needs. Here’s how that makes your experience a little different:

✨ GYN-only care = quicker scheduling & shorter wait times
Because we don’t provide obstetric care, our schedule isn’t tied to labor & delivery interruptions — so appointments are more predictable and often available sooner.
🤝 Personal, unrushed visits
We take time to listen, explain, and make sure you feel heard and supported at every step.
🩺 Same-day in-office testing when possible
Many labs and evaluations can be completed right here, so you don’t have to make extra trips.
💬 Comfortable, judgment-free environment
From birth control counseling to menopause care, pelvic pain, and routine exams — we approach every visit with compassion, education, and respect.

If you’re looking for a clinic that feels calm, supportive, and focused on gynecologic health — we’d love to care for you 💗

What is a Pap smear? 💜
A Pap smear is a quick screening test that checks for changes in the cervix as well as high-risk HPV strains that could lead to cervical cancer.
Most people should start Pap smears at age 21. How often you need them after that depends on your age and health history.
Pap smears are an important part of routine women’s preventative care. 💗

🩸 Irregular periods don’t just mean being “late.”

An irregular cycle can also mean:
• Cycles shorter than 21 days
• Cycles longer than 35 days
• Bleeding between periods
• Skipping periods for months
• Very unpredictable timing from month to month

While occasional changes can happen, persistent irregular periods can sometimes be a sign of an underlying condition that deserves attention.

If you're concerned about your cycle, we're here to help. 💕 Schedule an appointment with Lawton Women's Clinic to discuss your symptoms and find answers that work for you. Call our office or send us a contact card to get started!

What we want our patients to know when they say, ‘Sorry, that is TMI…’” 💜
Please don’t apologize.
There is no such thing as “too much information” when it comes to your health. The details you’re worried might be embarrassing, awkward, or “not important enough” are often the exact things that help us understand what’s going on.
We’ve heard it all — and more importantly, we’re here for all of it.
Your symptoms, your questions, your concerns, your story… they all matter. Nothing you share is TMI in a healthcare setting.
We want you to feel comfortable speaking openly, because that’s how we can give you the best care possible. 💗
