Sometimes, doing the right thing is worth more than making a profit. ❤️
Today was one of those days that reminded me why I love being a community pharmacist.
Earlier today, we had a patient who needed a medication that required special compounding, but unfortunately, her insurance would not cover it. When we explained the situation, she said she might just go without it and hoped the problem would resolve on its own.
Something about that situation stayed with me. I didn’t want finances to be the reason someone went without a medication they needed, so I decided to provide the medication at no cost.
Later that evening, while making another medication delivery to a different patient, we started talking about life—how everyone has their own struggles, how we often don’t know what someone else is going through, and how important it is to help people whenever we can.
During that conversation, this patient unexpectedly gave me a tip. He told me that he had been using pharmacies for many years and had never had a pharmacist personally deliver his medication. He said he admired what we do for people and wanted to show his appreciation.
That moment really touched my heart.
It reminded me that you don’t always lose when you give. Sometimes, you gain something much more valuable—gratitude, connection, and the feeling that you made a difference.
The two events happened on the same day, involving two different patients, but together they reminded me of something I truly believe:
Do good when you can. Help people when you can. Don’t always expect something in return.
What you put into the world has a way of finding its way back to you.
God exists. 🙏❤️
