Aaj main chopsticks use karne ki try kar rahi thi… aur clearly mujhe nahi aata tha.

Ek second ke liye laga, “bacche ke saamne silly na lagoon.”

Phir socha… kyun?

Hum bacchon ko bolte rehte hain: try karo, practice karo, give up mat karo.

Lekin kya woh humein struggle karte hue dekhte hain?

Aaj usne mujhe galat pakadte, haste aur phir se try karte dekha.

Maybe yahi real parenting lesson hai.

Bacchon ko perfect parents nahi chahiye. Unhe aise parents chahiye jo unke saamne bhi seekhte rahein.

Kabhi kabhi healthy eating ka problem “kya khayein?” nahi hota… problem hota hai same food ko thoda smarter kaise banayein.

Main bhi har meal ko fancy ya complicated nahi banana chahti. But agar ek simple powder ready ho jo oats, dosa, cheela, smoothie, curd, even roti dough mein easily add ho sake, toh nutrition automatically thoda better ho jata hai.

Isliye maine ye simple mix bana ke rakhna start kiya. No complicated recipe, no daily extra effort. Bas ek chhota sa habit that can quietly add more nutrition to everyday food.

And this is exactly the kind of practical kitchen hack I love because busy days mein bhi actually follow ho sakta hai.

Want the exact ingredients + quantity?

Comment “POWDER” and I’ll share it.

Diaper rash cream लगा रहे हो… but are you applying it the right way?

Rash cream सिर्फ लगाने से बात नहीं बनती.. how you apply it matters too.

Think of it like a protective barrier between your baby’s sensitive skin and constant moisture, p*e & p**p.

A few things I always tell parents:

• Clean the area gently and let it dry
• Apply a visible layer of barrier cream
• Don’t aggressively rub it into irritated skin
• Look for barrier ingredients such as zinc oxide; some formulations also use ingredients like titanium dioxide, petrolatum or dimethicone
• Frequent diaper changes matter just as much as the cream

And remember.... हर diaper rash सिर्फ diaper की वजह से नहीं होता. If the rash is severe, spreading, has blisters/sores, your baby seems unwell, or it isn’t improving, speak to your pediatrician.

Save this for the next diaper-rash emergency and share it with a new parent.

Khus khus was one of those ingredients I grew up seeing in the kitchen… but never really thought about why we used it.

Then once you start looking at food from a child nutrition point of view, you realise how much nutrition can hide inside the tiniest ingredients.

Khus khus or poppy seeds can add healthy fats, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and extra energy to a child’s meal when used in small food quantities.

And the best part? You don’t need to make anything fancy.

You can simply use it in: • Kheer
• Paratha
• Veg or paneer curry
• Small homemade ladoos

For kids, I prefer using small amounts, soaked/ground or cooked into meals, instead of giving the seeds separately.

Tiny ingredient. Easy to use. And one more way to make everyday meals a little more nutrient-dense.

Save this for the next time you’re wondering how to use khus khus for kids.

As a feeding expert, and now raising my own 4-year-old, one thing I’ve learnt is this:

Good eaters are not made at 4. The foundation starts at 6 months.

5 practical habits from the day you start solids:

1. Offer variety early
Don’t repeat the same 4–5 foods. Keep rotating grains, dals, vegetables, fruits, proteins and textures.

2. Don’t force one more bite
You decide what to serve. Baby decides how much to eat.

3. Keep re-offering rejected foods
“No” today does not mean “never”. Exposure matters.

4. Move beyond purees
Give age-appropriate textures so chewing and food acceptance can develop.

5. Let family food become normal
As baby grows, let them see and eat versions of what the family eats. Separate “kids food” for years can make variety harder later.

The goal is not a baby who finishes every bowl.

The goal is a child who grows up comfortable with different foods, tastes and textures.

Save this if you are starting solids or dealing with a picky eater.

Kinda chic to look back and realise how much life can change in a few years.

Motherhood, moving countries, starting over, building a community, finding my way back to work… still figuring it out, just with a little more confidence now.

Aaj kal parenting ka ek new pressure aa gaya hai.

Har doosri cheez par label lag gaya hai:
Aloo unhealthy
Suji unhealthy
Maida unhealthy
Chocolate unhealthy
Sugar mat do

Phir moms confuse ho jaati hain.

Ek mom ne mujhse almost guilt ke saath poocha,
“Bachcha aloo bhi khata hai, suji bhi, kabhi chocolate bhi. Kya main galat kar rahi hoon?”

Sach kya hai?

Problem usually ek single food nahi hota.
Problem hoti hai overall pattern.

Agar bachcha ghar ka balanced food kha raha hai, alag-alag textures aur foods try kar raha hai, protein, carbs, fats aur micronutrients mil rahe hain, toh har ingredient ko villain banane ki zarurat nahi hai.

Kids are growing.
Unki needs adults se alag hoti hain.
Un par adult weight-loss rules apply nahi hote.

Isiliye child nutrition mein fear nahi, balance samajhna zyada important hai.

Meri community mein starting solids ka ek pattern main baar-baar dekhti hoon.

6 months pe parents excited hote hain.
7 months pe confused.
8 months pe comparison start.
9 months pe tension:

“Uska baby itna kha raha hai… mera kyun nahi?”

And yahin se feeding unnecessarily stressful ho jaati hai.

Truth is, starting solids is not a race to reach a full bowl.

Baby ko time chahiye appetite build karne ke liye, textures samajhne ke liye, chewing practice ke liye, aur sabse important — food ke saath trust build karne ke liye.

Har baby ka pace different hota hai.

Agar hum sirf quantity chase karenge, toh hum hunger-fullness cues miss kar sakte hain.

So 6–12 months ke phase mein ek cheez yaad rakho:

Progress dekho, plate nahi.

Save this if you’re currently starting solids with your baby.
