Now 1 week removed from the 2026 STFM Conference on Practice & Quality Improvement, we at STFM want to give a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to everyone who attended the conference in Palm Desert, CA. Thank you to the attendees, speakers, presenters, the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa staff, conference steering committee, and all others who made this such a positive experience.

All attendees should have received an email Wednesday with a link to provide feedback on their conference experience. Please complete the survey as time allows, as this helps us know what elements to keep and what areas to improve for future conferences.

The 2027 conference will be in Denver, CO, and we hope all attendees this year will be back again! If you were not with us in Palm Desert this year, we hope you'll consider joining this growing group of health care professionals committed to practice improvement to better serve our patients and communities.

Here are some select pictures from the event. If you see a friend or colleague, please share or tag them in the comments!

Can artificial intelligence restore humanity to my patient interactions?

In this episode of the STFM Podcast, Drs May Lin and Brent K Sugimoto explore how ambient scribing and smarter administrative tools free physicians to be truly present with their patients, allowing technology to become a bridge in patient care rather than a barrier. Our guests also tackle the ethical and policy dimensions of how AI affects family medicine in both the exam room and the classroom: https://www.stfm.org/publicationsresearch/publications/podcast-ep-pages/stfmpodcast_08_2026/

In this joint editorial, editors of the seven US-based family medicine journals underscore the evidence that a strong primary care infrastructure is clearly related to improved health. They further argue that governments and health systems must invest in the primary care workforce to ensure high-quality primary care for the US population in the future.
