What a great day to introduce myself to all the new faces here!
Hey, I’m Melissa! Today does happen to be my 36th birthday... eeekkk. Time is flying.
I am a married to an amazing hubby and we have the most wonderful son.
My journey as a mother along with my work as a postpartum doula set me on this path of supporting families during those first few years after bringing a little one home.
I remember crying in the chair alone with mastitis and a baby that didn’t sleep well. I had no clue what to do except cry.
The thing is, there seems to be pressure that bringing a new baby home should be filled with joy. Yes, there was soooo much joy when our son was born, but this also came with a lot of overwhelming moments. It’s came with exhaustion, confusion, crazy hormones, being unsure of how to manage this new baby and my responsibilities, and much more.
Now I am not saying we as new parents should go around complaining all the time. What I am saying is that it is okay to struggle and admit the struggle as we are all probably right there with you. It is okay to ask for help. It is also okay to want to hide from all of your responsibilities at times.
Back to my birthday! I came downstairs this morning to two beautiful plants and birthday decorations. Kypton brought me waffles in bed! Today I am so thankful for another year and my little family. 😊
Double tap to help me celebrate my birthday!
