Good Morning Community! Lets talk BITES!
As the weather warms up, insect bites become more common â and while most are harmless, some can carry serious health risks. Mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, and other biting insects can cause reactions ranging from mild irritation to allergic responses or infections.
Ticks are especially important to watch for because they can transmit illnesses such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. After spending time outdoors, check your skin, scalp, clothing, and pets carefully. Remove ticks promptly with fine-tipped tweezers by pulling straight upward.
Most spider bites are minor, but certain species can cause significant pain, swelling, or tissue damage. Seek medical attention if you experience severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, spreading redness, fever, or worsening pain after a bite.
Prevention is key:
⢠Use EPA-approved insect repellent
⢠Wear long sleeves and pants in wooded or grassy areas
⢠Avoid reaching into dark spaces where spiders may hide
⢠Keep outdoor areas clean and free of standing water
Staying informed and taking simple precautions can help keep you and your family safe this season.
