🚁 AE 173 Base Meeting + Survival Training! 🚁

Another day at AE 173 spent learning, training, and making sure we’re ready for whatever comes our way! 💪🏼🚨

Today’s base meeting included some survival training—because when you work in the world of flight medicine, you have to be prepared for more than just the patient care! 🚁

We train hard, learn together, and keep each other sharp because when the call comes, there’s no room for “I didn’t know.”

All great gatherings should have some yummy food to enjoy and we did just that! we had lotsa good food including Tracy’s smash burgers and cupcakes for Joey’s birthday!

Proud of this AE 173 crew and the dedication they bring to the job every single day! ❤️💙

Another day, another opportunity to serve our communities! 💙💛 There’s just something about seeing the AE 173 bird sitting on the helipad that never gets old!

A Heat Advisory is in effect across portions of Kentucky today, with heat index values expected to climb into the 100s. Some areas are facing even more dangerous heat.

🚰 Hydrate BEFORE you get thirsty.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or A/C.
👵 Check on your elderly friends, family & neighbors.
👶 Keep an extra eye on kids.
🐶 Don’t forget the pets!
🚗 NEVER leave children or pets in a vehicle.
🏃‍♀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

And from your friendly neighborhood AEL crew… please don’t wait until you’re seriously sick to ask for help. Heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke quickly.

🚁 A GREAT & BUSY WEEK AT AEL 173! 🚁

It’s been a busy and productive week for our crew at Air Evac Lifeteam 173!

🚑 Mock Flight Training
Our new Flight Nurses, Loren Haydon and Audrey Clark, completed their mock flight training/simulations. A huge thank you to the Spring View Hospital Emergency Department staff and Marion County EMS for collaborating with us and helping make this training possible. We appreciate the continued teamwork and support!

❤️ EKG Recognition Education
Base Clinical Lead/Paramedic Joey Spalding also spent some time with Marion County EMS providing an EKG recognition class. We always enjoy opportunities to train together, share knowledge, and strengthen the relationships between our teams.

Jim Beam – Boston, KY
Our crew also had the opportunity to meet with the team at Jim Beam in Boston to discuss landing zone planning and explore opportunities for future education and training at their facility. Building these relationships ahead of time helps ensure we’re prepared when our services are needed.

From training and education to community partnerships and celebrating milestones, it’s been a great week for AEL 173. We’re thankful for everyone who continues to collaborate with and support our crew!
