Two years ago today, I was 19 years old and a brand-new mom.

My son was only two months old, a day away from being three months.

That day, we went to the ER because my baby had a terrifying, lifeless episode. He had been throwing up all day, mostly bile, and I spent hours sitting in that ER praying, crying, and begging God to tell me what was happening to my baby.

Eventually, I was told we needed to leave immediately for Columbia Childrenโ€™s Hospital.

โ€œNo stops. No food. No gas. Nothing. Your baby could die.โ€

I was 19.

And I will never forget that parking lot.

I cried out to Yahweh like I had never cried out before.

I remember thinking, โ€œLord, please don't take my baby from me.โ€

I remember begging Him.

Pleading with Him.

Asking Him to protect my baby.

We started the two-hour drive to Columbia.

I was exhausted from crying and praying. My baby sat quietly in the backseat, which wasn't normal for him at all. I kept looking at him, memorizing all the details I could, praying over him and asking Yahweh to keep him here.

When we arrived, we had to repeat test after test.

They mentioned the possibility of an absence seizure, but they weren't overly concerned.

At 12:08 a.m., I was sitting in a chair, exhausted, with my baby beside me, still praying.

โ€œYahweh, please don't take my baby.โ€

More results came back.

Nothing.

At 7:43 a.m., we were told he had tested positive for rhinovirus and that the virus had caused everything.

But my spirit wasn't at peace with that answer.

My mother's gut kept telling me there was more.

When my son was five months old, we finally found out he had a cyst on his brain.

He was diagnosed with clinical epilepsy.

And that was when my life changed forever.

I didn't have all the answers.

I wasn't a doctor.

I was a young mother who loved her baby more than words could explain.

So I prayed.

I researched.

I learned.

I listened.

I advocated.

And above everything else, I trusted Yahweh.

I did what I believed I could do to support my son's body and his health, including the natural and holistic practices I felt called to explore.

And today...

Two years later...

ZERO seizures.

Not because I'm some supermom.

Not because I had all the answers.

But because Yahweh was faithful.

He heard me when I cried in that parking lot.

He heard me on that two-hour drive.

He heard me sitting in that hospital chair at 12:08 a.m.

He heard every prayer I whispered when I was too exhausted to speak.

He saw every tear.

He knew every fear.

And He carried us through something I was never strong enough to carry alone.

My Lord and Savior didn't leave me in that hospital.
He didn't leave my baby.
He didn't abandon us when I was terrified.
He was there.

And I will praise Him for the rest of my life.

This story is a huge part of why Mama Mischief exists today.

Why I care about looking deeper.

Why I want people to learn about their bodies, ask questions, advocate for themselves, and seek the root of what is happening rather than simply accepting that they have to live with something forever.

I can't tell you exactly what caused my son's first episode, and I won't pretend I can prove what happened.

But I know what I experienced.

I know what my mother's intuition told me.

And I know who I prayed to when I thought I was going to lose my baby.

Yahweh heard me.

Two years ago, I was a terrified 19-year-old mother begging God to let me keep my baby.

Today, I get to look at my son and say:

Thank You, Yahweh.

Thank You for protecting him.

Thank You for carrying us.

Thank You for giving me strength when I had none.

Thank You for hearing a desperate mother's prayers.

Thank You for giving me another day with my baby.

All glory, all honor, and all praise belong to You.

This isn't just my testimony.

It's a testimony of God's faithfulness.

And I will never stop telling people what He has done for us. ๐Ÿค

Praise Yahweh.
