¡Ya ha llegado esa época del año! Durante este Mes Nacional de la Preparación, envíenos una foto de su kit de emergencia y reciba un botiquín de primeros auxilios gratis (hasta agotar existencias).

Su kit de emergencia debe incluir al menos 5 de los siguientes artículos: una manta, cerillas, una linterna con pilas de repuesto, agua y alimentos no perecederos, un abrelatas, ropa de recambio, calzado resistente y una chaqueta impermeable o un poncho. También recomendamos que se incluya un plan de emergencia y copias de documentos importantes.

It's that time of year! This National Preparedness Month, send us a picture of your emergency kit and receive a free first aid kit (while supplies last).

Your emergency kit must include at least 5 of the following items: a blanket, matches, a flashlight with extra batteries, water and nonperishable food, a can opener, a change of clothes, sturdy shoes, and a rain jacket or poncho. We also recommend including an emergency plan and copies of important documents.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember those we’ve lost, support those who are grieving, and stand with people and families affected by overdose. 💜

We also take action.

Knowing how to recognize an overdose, carrying naloxone, and knowing how to use it can make the difference between life and death. Fentanyl test strips and other harm reduction tools can also help reduce the risk of overdose.

Today, let’s turn awareness into action - and make sure everyone has the tools, information, and support they need to stay alive.

After carefully considering "Blueboxen" and "Blueboxi," we chose "Blueboxes" to describe our next round of free health vending machines. Five new locations are opening soon in Jackson County, including in Raytown, Independence, Kansas City and more.

Alpha-gal sounds like the name of a new superhero. 💥

In reality, alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) is an allergy to red meat and dairy products that can develop after being bitten by an infected tick. AGS has been on the rise in the United States, including here in Missouri. Symptoms are different for different people, but typically include stomach pain, hives, diarrhea, nausea, and/or vomiting. The severity of symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening.

The best way to prevent AGS is to avoid tick bites while enjoying the outdoors. YOU can become the real superhero by using EPA-approved insect repellents, walking in the center of trails, and wearing light-colored clothing to spot ticks more easily.
