In-home consults are an important part of the care we provide. Being able to support a family in their own space allows our IBCLCs to see the full picture and offer care that fits real life, not just what happens inside a clinic.

At the same time, providing in-home care requires a significant commitment from our team, including travel time before and after each appointment.

Beginning September 1, we’re updating our travel fee policy to better balance both: keeping in home care accessible for families while making it sustainable for the providers who deliver it.

Travel fees will now be based on the distance from your home to the nearest applicable Nurture Lactation clinic, as calculated by Google Maps.
👆The full breakdown is included in the graphic above👆

We’re incredibly grateful to the families who choose Nurture and who understand that caring well for families also means caring well for the team that shows up for them. Thank you for supporting a policy that allows us to continue offering thoughtful, high quality care in the clinic and in your home 💜

Questions about how the new policy applies to you? Give us a call or text at 816-832-2672 and our team will be happy to help!

Your baby fed at 6:00. And 7:00. And now they’re rooting again at 7:42🤦🏻‍♀️

That doesn’t automatically mean you aren’t making enough milk.

Cluster feeding is especially common during the first few days and weeks! Babies may group several feeds close together to support milk production, navigate a growth or developmental change, and find comfort and regulation.

Those frequent feeds are also sending your body an important message: make more milk🚨

Instead of using the clock as your supply report card, look at the full picture:
diaper output
weight changes, swallowing
breast softening
how your baby acts between feeding clusters

If your baby is feeding nearly constantly without seeming satisfied, has fewer diapers than expected, is difficult to wake, isn’t swallowing well, or isn’t gaining weight as expected, reach out for an individualized feeding assessment with an IBCLC.

Save this for the evening when it feels like your baby has been attached to you since dinner🤍

I wear a lot of hats, but somehow, they all connect back to the same thing: helping people feel supported🫶🏼

I’m a mom of two, the founder of Nurture Lactation, an IBCLC, a BUTI Yoga instructor, a business mentor through The Credentialed CEO, and someone who genuinely loves lifting weights, moving my body, and challenging myself.

But Nurture has never just been about building a lactation business.

I’m passionate about changing what support actually looks like for families🤍

That means advocating for better insurance coverage so lactation care is more accessible. It means building relationships with pediatricians, doulas, bodyworkers, dentists, therapists, and other providers because feeding doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and no one provider can or should try to be everything for a family.

It also means building a team I trust and supporting them as they grow, learn, and care for families across Kansas City.

I may have started this business, but I never wanted Nurture to become a one woman show. The goal has always been something bigger: a community of knowledgeable providers working together so parents don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Whether I’m in a consult, teaching a workout, mentoring another healthcare business owner, advocating for insurance change, lifting weights, or cheering on the team I’ve built, I’m pretty much always working toward the same thing:

Helping people build something stronger, whether that’s a feeding relationship, a business, a team, or themselves 💛

just checking in because breastfeeding somehow comes with a LOT of opinions 👀

you don’t have to compare your pump output to somebody else’s freezer stash.
you don’t have to “bounce back.”
and you definitely don’t have to take every piece of breastfeeding advice people throw at you.

trust your gut. ask the questions with a professional. get support when you need it!

and don’t forget a treat for yourself💜

Your breast pump came with a fl**ge size…

That doesn’t mean it came with YOUR fl**ge size👀

Many pumps come standard with fl**ges around 20–24mm, but our IBCLCs regularly fit moms who need sizes closer to 13–17mm😱

That is a BIG difference when you’re pumping multiple times a day!!

A properly fitted fl**ge shouldn’t cause pain or discomfort, and you shouldn’t have to crank your pump to the highest suction setting just to get milk moving💦

And if you’re sitting there waiting forever for a let-down? That’s another reason to take a closer look at your pump setup. Many people see a let-down within the first minute or two.

Pumping harder isn’t always (…actually almost never) the answer. Sometimes you just need a fl**ge that actually fits you.
(Psst.. Fun fact 👉🏻 your size changes while breastfeeding)

If pumping hurts, feels inefficient, or you’re constantly questioning your output, an IBCLC can assess your fl**ge fit and your full pumping setup!

Save this for your next pump session 🤍

📱 A little communication update from Nurture!

We’re officially moving to Weave, which means each of our providers will now have their own Nurture phone line. Making it easier to communicate directly with the provider who knows you and your care plan! 🤍

With that change, we also wanted to share a quick reminder about how to reach us:

Questions related to your established care plan can be sent directly to your provider. If your questions involve new concerns or require more assessment than we can provide over text, your provider may recommend a follow-up appointment.

For scheduling, insurance, or billing questions, please contact [email protected].

Most messages are answered the same business day, but please allow until the next business day for a response. Messages received outside of our call hours will be answered the next business day!

We know feeding concerns can feel incredibly time-sensitive, and we’ll always respond as quickly as we’re able. Our providers are not available 24/7, though, and for anything requiring immediate medical attention, please call 9-1-1.

New phone system, same team in your corner🤍
