Cryotherapy is an in-office procedure that uses controlled freezing to treat certain skin lesions.

Whether cryotherapy is appropriate depends on the type of lesion, its location, your medical history, and the physician's evaluation.

Not every skin growth should be treated in the same way. A lesion that is new, changing, bleeding, painful, or otherwise concerning should be medically evaluated before treatment is considered.

Pain is not proof that laser hair removal is working.

People sometimes assume that a stronger sensation must mean a stronger or more effective treatment. That is not a useful way to judge the procedure.

Treatment sensation varies, and technologies such as Alpha Pro include contact cooling to help manage comfort during treatment.

The goal is not to make the procedure hurt. The goal is to use appropriate settings for the person and treatment area while following a planned course of care.

Comfort and effectiveness are not opposites.

If you are worried that a comfortable treatment means “nothing happened,” ask how your treatment settings and progress are being evaluated.

Seeing “dense breasts” on a mammogram report can raise more questions than answers.

Dense breast tissue is common. It can make some cancers harder to see on a mammogram, and breast density is also one factor associated with breast cancer risk. But a dense-breast notification is not a cancer diagnosis, and it does not automatically mean that every patient needs an ultrasound or MRI.

The next step is to look at the full picture: your mammogram result, age, family history, previous breast findings, and other individual risk factors.

If your report mentions dense breast tissue and you are unsure what it means for you, discuss it with your healthcare provider rather than trying to interpret the wording on its own.

Dr. Kola earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, India, in 2010.

She subsequently completed her Internal Medicine residency at Northwell Health in Queens, New York, from 2013 to 2016.

Today, her practice combines her medical training and clinical experience with an emphasis on thorough evaluation, individualized treatment, prevention, and wellness.
