Being a yoga teacher is more than showing up for an hour class to teach. It’s creating sequences, but more importantly, PRACTICING those sequences so you know how it feels and where it feels. Sometimes we think throwing a bunch of poses together looks nice on paper, but it feels horrible in the body. I know you’ve been to a class like that. (I know I have!) It’s making tweaks, playing with pacing and remembering as the teacher to also breath and come into the present moment. Our minds are monkeying around too. Don’t think we are on cloud 9 all the time! The hours of research, training and consideration that go into a single 60 minute class are endless because class is not about me. I am so grateful to be able to provide little pockets of joy and support in the best places possible. We need more pranayama, meditation and asana in schools at all ages. Period. I spent 1 hour with these amazing humans and provided them with tools that can last a lifetime in a million different scenarios! Truly though, why aren’t we doing more of this?

Do you ever look in the mirror and ask who the person is that is looking back at you? We can get so caught up in our work, lives, responsibilities, volunteering, schedules, etc that we can forget to take time for ourselves and remember what brings us joy. The hustle and grind culture steers us towards "success," but what if our success was based on how alive we felt in our every day? How connected to our authentic selves we are?
Today's Prompt: Think about a time when you felt most yourself. How can you tap into that feeling every day?
We only have a few more days of prompts left before our Self Love February is over, but I hope you will continue journaling and finding time and space for the lessons you have learned and tapped into!
Boundaries - setting them and upholding them - are a huge key to your self-care. It is your job, and your job alone, to ensure your own boundaries are not crossed. This is not easy, especially if you are new to setting them (like me!) It can feel really lonely, but at the same time, it can feel really liberating and light. As you continue to support your own wellbeing, boundaries will start to become second nature as you contunue enjoying the feel-good energy that you create and surround yourself with.

Finally, the weekend! We made it!
I say this a lot, but you can't pour from an empty cup. It's not selfish to put yourself and your needs first. Learning to set and uphold boundaries is one of the best gifts I could have given to myrself. It enhances my mental health and emotional wellbeing, which ultimately supports my physical health!
