Acupuncture for Penguin!

Take a look at a news release from New England Aquarium on using acupuncture for aging mobility of Pip the penguin!

So how does this work? Well acupuncture works on all living animals. If it has a heart and pumps circulation, it will work. Acupuncture is a theory based medicine derived from China where the medicine believes if poor blood flow and qi stagnation , symptoms like stiffness will arise much like Mr. Pip! Like humans we have our stagnation as well and instead of taking pain medication to reduce the feeling, acupuncture can help promote the blood flow in painful area to promote healing. Although Mr. Pip can’t tell us if this work or not, the mere fact that they are willing to treat him means it does.

Here is a picture of an aging silkie terrier who receives acupuncture from a licensed vet acupuncturist in MA for stiff joint and back arthritis.

Summer Is Ending — How Can We Prepare for Fall?

As the beautiful, long days of summer begin to fade, New England welcomes cooler weather, colorful foliage, warm tea, and pumpkin season. As the seasons change, our daily routines and bodies adjust as well.

So, where does acupuncture fit in?
Research continues to explore the relationship between acupuncture and the immune system. A 2023 review published in Frontiers in Immunology [Wang M, Liu W, Ge J, Liu S. The immunomodulatory mechanisms for acupuncture practice. Front Immunol. 2023 Apr 6;14:1147718. doi: 10.3389/fimmu.2023.1147718. PMID: 37090714; PMCID: PMC10117649.] examined how acupuncture may influence immune regulation, including interactions involving the nervous and immune systems. While research continues to develop, these findings offer an interesting look at acupuncture beyond what many people simply think of as “needles.”

At Moy Acupuncture & Wellness, we take an individualized approach to seasonal wellness and acupuncture care for both adults and younger patients when appropriate.

As we transition from summer into fall and back to school , it can be a good time to pay attention to rest, nutrition, movement, stress, and the everyday habits that support your overall wellbeing.

Chinese medicine working with Western Medicine on Parkinson’s case. How amazing it is to help this person!

Students recently proved that, despite being one of the longest documented conditions—dating back to Homer’s “The Odyssey” and beyond—treating Parkinson’s disease requires a team.

The Interprofessional Healthcare Forum’s (IPHF) recent presentation featured physician assistant studies, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine students as they described their roles on collaborative care teams for patients with Parkinson’s.

From diagnosis to medication therapy, strength building, mindfulness, and complementary therapies, read about the interprofessional event at MCPHS News: https://bit.ly/4c0SKyX
