We are a team "More Cruciferous Veggies Please" 😍 and here is why:
1. They are rich in nutrients like carotenoids, vitamin C, folate, and minerals. - All very important for the proper function of our cells!
2. They are great PREBIOTIC foods (hello FIBER!) - food for the gut microbiome.
3. They contain antioxidants such as Quercetin!
4. They contain biologically active compounds such as Sulforaphane. Some experiments show that sulforaphane may
- help protect DNA from damage
- have anticancer properties
- have anti-inflammatory effects
Here is the easiest way to prepare brussels sprouts: 👇
- trim the end and remove the outer layer/dead leaves if any
- cut in half
- season with sea salt and pepper
- toss with olive oil
- place on a baking sheet with cut face down
- Bake in the oven at 400-425F for about 30min until fork TENDER (important!) and the cut face looks brownish/caramelized
- Enjoy!
