The Arc Rockbridge The Arc advocates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live "A Life like Yours."

The Arc of Rockbridge is non-profit organization dedicated to providing a variety of social opportunities, advocacy support, scholarships, and other services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as their families. Our mission is to promote and protect the human rights of these individuals and to actively support their inclusion and participation in the community. In 1958, The Arc of Rockbridge came into existence after a Lexington family with disabled twin daughters decided they wanted their girls to attend public school. Neighbors from the community banded together to approach the school board. Their efforts were successful, as permission was granted to the girls to attend. From this exciting community victory, our local organization was formed. Now, over 50 years later, we have grown, serving approximately 75 individuals and their families in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Arc of Rockbridge is affiliated with both the Arc of Virginia and the Arc of the United States. Please consider joining our board and volunteering with us.

From Best Buddies!
Hi everyone!! My name is Layla Keadle, one of the Best Buddies Officers at Washington & Lee, and I'm so excited to announce we have our first official event this year!!! Join us on September 20th, from 3-4:30 PM for a bingo and bunches of fun at Sunnyside House at Kendal!!
This club is truly special to me to make meaningful connections not only with my fellow students, but the community that surrounds Washington & Lee. Our club feels very fortunate to spend time with buddies, but also getting to know their parents and family. It is truly an honor and privilege and we cannot wait to be introduce everyone and make new friends in our community :)

Our campers, leaders and helpers had a great Arc Camp week July 13 - 17 at Lake Robertson! We had 17 campers and more helpers than I can count! đŸ˜€

Thank you to Jan Lee, Scott Youngblood, Sue Kater, Amy Swisher, Doris Fredricksen, Mark Daughtry, Erica, Stephanie, Ingrid and so many more who volunteered their time to make our Arc Camp extra special!
Thank you to Lake Robertson Superintendent, Wayne Nicely for loaning us 2 helpers to take a couple of our friends fishing.
