The Arc of Rockbridge is non-profit organization dedicated to providing a variety of social opportunities, advocacy support, scholarships, and other services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as their families. Our mission is to promote and protect the human rights of these individuals and to actively support their inclusion and participation in the community
. In 1958, The Arc of Rockbridge came into existence after a Lexington family with disabled twin daughters decided they wanted their girls to attend public school. Neighbors from the community banded together to approach the school board. Their efforts were successful, as permission was granted to the girls to attend. From this exciting community victory, our local organization was formed. Now, over 50 years later, we have grown, serving approximately 75 individuals and their families in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Arc of Rockbridge is affiliated with both the Arc of Virginia and the Arc of the United States. Please consider joining our board and volunteering with us.
