The 10th Annual Bluegrass Otolaryngology Research Symposium brought together clinicians, researchers, residents, and medical students dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship of head and neck cancer along with other Otolaryngology research. Through collaboration, education, and innovation, the symposium highlighted how expanding our understanding of these critical areas continues to drive meaningful progress in the field.

A special thank you to Dr. Susan McCammon from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Dr. Natalie Silver from Cleveland Clinic for sharing their expertise and insights, including Dr. Silver’s presentation of the Richard C. Hayden, III Alumni Lecture. Their contributions helped make this year’s symposium an outstanding educational experience.

Because every voice matters. Every sound matters.
Every connection matters.

This Better Hearing & Speech Month, we’re celebrating the standard of excellence our team delivers every day.

From hearing evaluations to advanced care like cochlear implants, many hearing journeys begin with an audiologist and a hearing test. DuJuan’s story is a powerful reminder of the life changing impact of hearing care.

In loving honor and celebration of his life and work, we remember Dr. William Mimms.

Obituary provided by his family:
His legacy, service, and impact will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

William Reed Mimms, MD, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2026. Bill was born March 16, 1939 in Henderson, Kentucky. Bill served in the Army during the Vietnam War under the Berry Plan before starting his private practice in San Antonio, Texas in 1972. He spent 61 years as an otolaryngologist in San Antonio, Texas and at the University of Kentucky. He especially enjoyed working with the residents.
