⁉️Did you know there are pre-operative options that can help make knee replacement recovery more comfortable?

Daniel Butcher, PA-C, recently sat down with Dr. Foxx to discuss Cryoneurolysis, a minimally invasive, in-office procedure that uses extreme cold to temporarily stop nerves from transmitting pain signals to the brain.

Offered 1–2 weeks before a scheduled knee replacement, Cryoneurolysis may help reduce the need for opioid medication and support a faster recovery after surgery, according to recent studies.

Last week, Dr. Crouse performed his first ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release in the office!

Dr. Crouse is currently the only board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Kentucky performing this procedure.

What can you expect? The procedure is performed in the office using local anesthesia and requires only a small incision that typically does not require sutures. Most patients can return to work within 3–5 days, and pain can typically be managed with over-the-counter medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

If carpal tunnel symptoms are affecting your work, sleep, or everyday activities, an in-office, minimally invasive treatment option may be available.

Get to Know Your Provider! Meet Justin Sammons, PA-C! 👋

Justin brings a unique perspective to patient care, beginning his healthcare career as a physical therapist assistant before earning his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky. With experience in hospital medicine, neurosurgery, and orthopedics, he is dedicated to helping patients reduce pain, restore function, and get back to doing what they love.

Working alongside Dr. Favetto, Justin provides comprehensive orthopedic care backed by years of hands-on clinical experience. He also helps care for patients at BGONow Orthopedic Urgent Care, providing convenient, walk-in treatment for orthopedic injuries when they happen.

Justin has been serving patients at Bluegrass Orthopaedics since 2023 and is certified by the NCCPA and licensed in the state of Kentucky.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife and children and cherishing every moment with his family.
