You protect your heart and your bones. Your brain deserves the same attention.

Our providers talk about estradiol as a hormone that may support brain health as women age, alongside strength training, protein and movement. Every woman's levels are different.

For years, a lot of women were told hormones are dangerous. Most of that fear traces back to one study: the Women’s Health Initiative, whose results made headlines in the early 2000s.

The headlines were loud. The details got lost.

Who was studied. Most of the women were in their 60s, and many were a decade or more past menopause. That’s a very different group from a woman in her 40s or early 50s who’s just starting to feel the shift.

What was used. The study used an estrogen made from horse urine and a synthetic progestin. Those are not the same molecules as the bioidentical estradiol and progesterone many women ask about today, which are structurally identical to the hormones your body makes.

What came after. Researchers have spent the years since taking a closer look at the data, and timing turned out to matter. When and how hormones are started may change the picture.

None of this means hormones are right for everyone. It means the conversation deserves more than a headline from twenty years ago.

Education starts with the full picture. Curious what it means for you? Book a consult with our team and ask about checking your levels: https://link.msgsndr.com/sp/25fd02d3444

Women, this one is for you!

Let's take a look at your symptoms from the neck up:
brain fog...✔️
anxious for no clear reason...✔️
can't stay asleep...✔️
mood changes...✔️
waking up exhausted...✔️

These symptoms are common in perimenopause, and they're easy to write off as stress or just getting older. A full hormone panel can show whether something else is going on.

Our hormone experts look at the whole picture, including how you feel. Schedule your visit today: https://link.msgsndr.com/sp/25fd02d3444

You fall asleep fine, then you're wide awake at 2 a.m. Or you get a full night and still wake up exhausted. For many women in their 40s and early 50s, that pattern starts when progesterone levels begin to drop.

Progesterone plays a real role in how well you sleep, and poor sleep makes everything else harder: mood, energy, focus, motivation to work out or eat well.

If this sounds familiar, it's worth having your levels checked. Book a consultation with one of our hormone experts to get started: https://link.msgsndr.com/sp/25fd02d3444

Anyone can write a prescription off a lab report. The real work starts two or three months later, when you come back and something has changed.

Your labs are only part of the story. How you feel, how you sleep, what your goals are, and how your body responds over time all matter just as much. That's why we sit down with you, look at your results together, and build a plan around you. And when your needs change, the plan changes with you.

Normal is not optimal, and getting to optimal takes time, attention, and a team you can reach when you have a question.

Think about what your car insurance actually pays for. A major accident? Covered. Tires, brakes, regular oil changes? Those come out of your pocket.

Health insurance follows the same logic. It's built for the big, unexpected moments like surgery or a hospital stay. The things that keep you feeling your best day to day, like supplements, hormone optimization, and TRT, usually fall outside that coverage.

That's why more people are choosing to put their own money toward their health instead of waiting for something to go wrong. The baseline keeps you protected. The investment keeps you performing.

Your provider isn't the problem. The 15 minute appointment is.

At Optimize U we slow things down. Every plan starts with comprehensive labs and a real conversation about how you're feeling, not just whether your numbers fall "in range." From there, a licensed provider builds a plan around your symptoms and goals and keeps checking in to make sure it's working.

Tired of feeling rushed? Start with labs. Give us a call or book an appointment online! Links in bio.

The old protein guideline of 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight was built to keep you from getting sick. It was never meant to help you thrive.

Updated guidelines are higher, and if you're active, in a calorie deficit, or on a GLP-1, the target moves closer to 2 grams per kilogram. If you've been eating to the old number, you're probably running low.

GLP-1s Explained
What's actually different between the medications you keep hearing about. Semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide, you've probably seen all three names floating around, but do you actually know what makes them different?

Semaglutide targets one receptor, GLP-1, which slows digestion and signals your brain that you're full. It's the foundation most people recognize from Ozempic and Wegovy.

Tirzepatide adds a second target, GIP, alongside GLP-1. This dual action is associated with enhanced appetite suppression and, for some patients, fewer digestive side effects at comparable doses.

Newer compounds in development add a third pathway, glucagon, aiming to improve outcomes even further. Research here is still early, and these options are not yet FDA approved for clinical use.

The mechanism matters, but so does where your medication comes from. Working with a licensed provider and pharmacy means you know exactly what you're getting, every single time.
