June is Cancer Survivors Month, and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick it off than by sharing this jaw-dropping photo of one of our incredible patients.
Beating cancer is a massive victory, but the aftermath of life-saving radiation treatments can sometimes leave behind hidden challenges, like damaged tissue or non-healing wounds. That’s where Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) steps in.
By delivering 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, HBOT helps:
- Repair radiation-damaged tissues and blood vessels - Reduce chronic inflammation and pain
- Accelerate the body’s natural healing process

Our mission at ROC is to help survivors move past just “recovering” so they can get back to doing what they love—whether that’s walking in the park, playing with grandkids, or... crushing a perfect handstand in our lobby!

Are you or a loved one dealing with late effects of radiation therapy? You don’t have to just live with it. Let’s talk about how HBOT can help you reclaim your strength.

Today marks the beginning of Cancer Survivor Month—a time dedicated to celebrating the strength of those who have beaten cancer, and addressing the challenges that often follow.

Defeating cancer is a monumental victory. But for many survivors, the end of treatment isn't the end of the journey. Lingering side effects from life-saving treatments like radiation therapy can surface months—or even years—down the road.

Symptoms like chronic pain, non-healing tissue changes, or radiation cystitis can severely impact your quality of life. This month, we are launching a special series dedicated to a treatment many survivors don't realize is available to them: Medical-grade Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).

How does Hyperbarics help survivors?
Radiation therapy can inadvertently damage the healthy blood vessels surrounding a treated area, leaving tissues starved of oxygen. HBOT works by surrounding the body with 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This process:
✨ Stimulates angiogenesis (the growth of healthy new blood vessels).
✨ Floods damaged tissues with the oxygen needed to finally heal.
✨ Reduces chronic inflammation and repairs radiation-induced injuries at a cellular level.

Survivorship should mean thriving, not just getting by. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing deep dives into how ROC Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care helps survivors reclaim their comfort, health, and quality of life.

💡 Did you know? HBOT for delayed radiation injury is non-invasive, highly effective, and covered by Medicare and major insurance plans.

Why are HBOT treatments 120 minutes long? ⏱️

We get it—two hours is a real time commitment! But in the world of advanced medicine, time and pressure make up your exact "dosage."

A standard treatment at ROC includes time to smoothly transition you to and from our treatment depth, ensuring a full, uninterrupted 90 minutes at peak pressure. Just like you wouldn't take only a fraction of a prescribed medication, we don't skip a single minute of the time your cells need to trigger long-term healing.

The good news? It's the perfect amount of time to relax, put on a movie, and just breathe. 🎬🍿

When it comes to bone infections, standard treatments sometimes need a "boost." 🦴

Osteomyelitis can be stubborn because it’s hard to get medicine into the bone tissue. At ROC Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care, we use hyperbaric pressure to deliver oxygen deep into the bone, creating an environment where antibiotics can finally do their job.

If you’re fighting a recurring infection, we’re here to help.

Did you know that radiation treatment can sometimes cause "hidden" damage that shows up months or even years later? ☢️

It’s called Late Radiation Tissue Injury (LRTI), and it happens when radiation affects the small blood vessels, making it harder for your body to heal or keep tissues healthy. If you are experiencing complications after past radiation therapy, you aren’t alone—and you don’t have to just "live with it."

At ROC Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care, we use HBOT to stimulate angiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels) to bring life back to those areas.

In medical-grade Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, we aren't just 'giving oxygen', we are overcoming physiological barriers to healing.

When tissue is compromised by radiation, vascular insufficiency, inflammation, or edema, red blood cells often cannot reach the site of the pathology. At ROC Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care, we utilize atmospheric pressure to bypass these bottlenecks.

Watch our latest clinical breakdown to see how we use hyperbaric physics to drive systemic recovery and wound healing.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common and most preventable cancers when caught early.

On World Cancer Day, we recognize the strength it takes to face cancer and the resilience it takes to heal afterward.

For many patients, the journey doesn’t end when treatment does. Recovery can be complex, personal, and ongoing.

We’re proud to support patients navigating life after cancer, and we stand with every individual, family, and care team affected by this disease.

This is why our work can’t wait: the average number of Veteran su***des was 17.5 per day (2021), and the Veteran su***de rate increased 11.6% from 2020 to 2021.

At FCMSPC, prevention looks like connection + education + local access to support, not silence and “figure it out alone.”
