Lactation Care with Elizabeth would like to recognize Black Breastfeeding Week and this year’s theme, “We All We Got.”

Black Breastfeeding Week is an important opportunity to bring awareness to the significant barriers Black women and families can face when accessing lactation care and achieving their breastfeeding goals.

Lactation education and support can begin as early as pregnancy. Providing families with culturally responsive education, resources, and support throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey can help strengthen confidence and improve access to the care they deserve.

Systemic inequities and institutional biases continue to contribute to disparities in breastfeeding rates and maternal and infant health outcomes. Addressing these disparities creates opportunities for education, advocacy, accessible lactation support, and community connection.

When we strengthen our communities and ensure families have the support they need, we can work toward reducing health disparities and creating better outcomes for both mothers and babies.

This Black Breastfeeding Week, we celebrate Black families, honor their experiences, amplify their voices, and recognize the importance of ensuring that every family has access to the support they need to reach their feeding goals.

Lactation Care with Elizabeth would like to recognize (AANHPI) Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Island Breastfeeding Week. (August 15th-21st) The theme for this year is “Better Data, Better Care for AANHPI Families,” with the goal of improving education, policy, and lactation support practices. AANHPI focuses on spotlighting traditional focuses and community strengths while addressing language barriers and gaps within the health care system.
