Graduates of the Physician Assistant Studies program are awarded a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies after completing the 29-month curriculum. Graduates are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination and upon successful completion, are then eligible for state certification/licensure to practice as a certified Physician Assistant. The Physician As

sistant Studies Program at UK was initiated in 1973 and is one of two physician assistant programs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assitant (ARC-PA), which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In 1996, the program was extended to include instruction at Morehead State University. Now, 10 dedicated faculty members, two based at Morehead State University, and eight based in Lexington, provide instruction. Each year, 40 students are admitted to the Lexington campus, and 16 to the Morehead State site. The PA program also offers international opportunities for its students including some who choose to to their clerkship rotations in various countries including Kenya, Swaziland and England. There are also other opportunities within the college to travel internationally on short term trips to Ecuador and Mexico, with other partnerships developing as well. Employment Agreement/Job Description

This job would be outpatient family medicine. We see a wide variety of patients and accept all insurances. Many of our patients often prefer not to go out of town for specialist appointments so we often take care of their chronic, complex medical issues. We see newborns to geriatrics. We cover several nursing homes and assisted living/memory care facilities but that is not required currently. We do have PA, DO and NP students often so are VERY used to training new grads and helping with questions.

1. Pay: $50/hr in the first year, increasing $5/hr each year to maximum around $65/hr.

2. Bonus: Starting with 1% quarterly bonus (you receive 1% of what you bill) when meeting quality and patient volume goals.

3. Insurance: HSA contribution from VFM $75 bi-weekly. Health and Dental Insurance with $40-$150/month, depends on family vs individual.

4. Retirement: 401K with Vanguard. 1:1 matching contribution from VFM of 3% annual pay after first 6 months of employment. You vest 20% for each year employed.

5. PTO: 3 weeks of vacation.

6. Schedule: We would discuss but it would involve at least one evening per week. A few of my providers like to work 8-8 and then only work 4 days per week, I’d be open to discussing that also. We do have two locations, but this will likely just be at the Versailles office.

7. Patient Load: Patients per day expectation starting out, 2 patients per hour. With reassessment periodically to agree on increasing appointments in the first 6 months to 3 patients per hour.

8. Misc: Malpractice insurance provided by VFM, we are closed for New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and usually do a half day on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
