FUN FACT FRIDAY 💡

Did you know healthy tongue posture involves more than the front of the tongue?

The middle and back portions also play an important role in oral rest posture, swallowing and overall function. Myofunctional therapy helps build the strength, coordination and awareness needed to develop healthier oral patterns.

✅Take a quick posture check:

👅 Is your tongue resting up?
👄 Are your lips comfortably together?
👃 Are you breathing through your nose?

🥨 **Myo Monday: Let’s Talk About Chewing!**

Chewing may seem automatic, but it requires the tongue, cheeks, lips, and jaw to work together as a team.

Some signs that this coordination may need support include:

• Chewing mostly on one side
• Taking a long time to finish meals
• Stuffing too much food into the mouth
• Frequently needing a drink to wash food down
• Food collecting in the cheeks
• Difficulty forming food into a manageable ball before swallowing

During a myofunctional evaluation, I observe how these muscles work together during chewing and swallowing. Improving these patterns can help make mealtimes more comfortable, coordinated, and efficient.

Did you know that snoring in children is **not considered normal**?

If your child snores regularly, wets the bed beyond the expected age, struggles to focus, or breathes through their mouth, it may be worth taking a closer look at how they're breathing while they sleep.

While these signs don't always mean there's a sleep-related breathing issue, they can be important clues that deserve further evaluation.

As a myofunctional therapist, I help identify oral and breathing habits that may be contributing to poor sleep and work alongside your child's healthcare team to support healthier breathing patterns.

💚 Better breathing can support better sleep, and better sleep supports healthy growth, learning, and development.

If you've been wondering whether your child's symptoms could be connected, I'd be happy to answer your questions.

Over the past several months, this amazing young man has built life-changing habits through consistency, hard work, and determination. His improved posture, healthier jaw position, and growing confidence are a testament to what can happen when small daily habits become lifelong routines.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support and dedication of his mom, who showed up every step of the journey. ❤️

Congratulations on your graduation! I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished, and I can't wait to see how these healthy habits continue to benefit you for years to come.

🌿 MYO MONDAY | Something New is Growing at The Myo Nook! 🌿

I’m so excited to share that Mini Myo is coming soon!

Mini Myo is a fun, age-appropriate program created especially for younger children. Through engaging activities and play-based learning, we’ll build the healthy habits that support proper growth and development.

Together, we’ll focus on:
👃 Nasal breathing
👄 Comfortable lip seal
👅 Healthy tongue resting posture
💚 Strong oral habits that can last a lifetime

By introducing these foundational skills early, we can help guide healthy development before less desirable habits become well established. Early intervention can make a meaningful difference in a child’s breathing, sleep, oral function, and overall wellness.

At The Myo Nook, I believe every child deserves the opportunity to build healthy habits from the very beginning.

✨ Stay tuned for more details—I can’t wait to welcome my newest little learners!

🐶 Wellness Wednesday

Good sleep starts with good breathing.

Even our furry friends know how to rest with their mouths closed. 🐾

For people, nasal breathing during sleep supports healthy oxygen levels, better sleep quality, and overall wellness. If you or your child snores, sleeps with an open mouth, or wakes with a dry mouth, those could be signs that breathing deserves a closer look.

At The Myo Nook, we help identify oral habits that may be affecting sleep, breathing, and overall health.

🌿 Myo Monday: More Than Just Jaw Pain

Do you experience jaw pain, clicking, headaches, or clenching? These can all be signs of a TMJ disorder.

Many people don’t realize that breathing patterns, tongue posture, and muscle function can all play a role in how the jaw feels and functions.

Myofunctional therapy helps address the why behind these symptoms—not just the pain.

✨ Small changes can lead to big relief.

Have questions about TMJ or wonder if myofunctional therapy could help? I’d love to chat!
