Often when prepping for labor we get so focused on learning the techniques, that we over look the small simple things that make a huge difference comfort wise. Not just for you but for your support people too!
Todays labor tip is a list of commonly forgotten or overlooked items/tasks. Like remembering to take out the trash before leaving for the hospital. Or getting your hair braided before your due date. The little forgotten things make a big difference 🫶

What was something that got forgotten when you went into labor?

A lot of people tell us, "I didn't even know doulas did that." And honestly? We hear it all the time. 💜

Maybe you've been feeling overwhelmed, Googling every little thing, wondering if what you're experiencing is normal, or wishing you had someone to text who just *gets it.* That might be a sign you're looking for a doula... you just didn't know there was a name for it.

A doula is someone who's in your corner. Someone to answer questions, encourage you, help you feel informed, support your partner, remind you to take a deep breath, and walk alongside you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

You don't have to be planning an unmedicated birth.
You don't have to be "high risk."
You don't have to have everything figured out.

You just have to want support.

If you've ever caught yourself thinking, *"I wish I had someone to ask,"* we'd love to be that someone. 🫶

Todays labor tip is...
💫💫COUNTER PRESSURE💫💫

Counter pressure and hip squeezes are the main reasons I go to the gym as a doula. Because let me tell you, your arms get tired after a few hours. This is a great comfort measure to have your partner practice so he can give your doula a break (and vise versa!).

💫 Hydrotherapy for the win!💫
There are some Pros and Cons to using Hydrotherapy in your labor. Such as, not every hospital in our area has tubs! Or if you are having a medical induction of labor then the need more fetal monitoring might get in the way of being able to use this method!
If you're not sure what is available at the place you plan to deliver, you can always ask your care provider! Or call your labor and delivery unit and schedule a tour of the facilities!
