🌚"Witch beads" typically refer to Witch’s Ladders (or Pagan prayer beads), which are traditional magical tools used in neo-Pagan practices for meditation, spellcasting, and counting chants. 🫱This terracotta "Circle of Friends" sculpture is a handcrafted candle holder depicting figures holding hands. Although the name is modern, the imagery of the sculpture is not, as similar statues have been found within regions of Mexico dating back at least a few hundred years or more.🫲

🫱It is uncertain if the circle of 7 figures holding hands around what is (or will be) presumably a fire, is Aztec or Mayan in origin, as there seems to be good cases for both, and pieces in museums give differing opinions. What is known is that this has become a trendy piece today, and you'll often see the male/androgynous figures replaced by women, even different animals!🫲

🫱The figures in this sculpture embrace in a circle to represent unity and harmony. They encircle a fire-- where your votive or tealight will go (also a great place for a sphere), as the fire represents the passionate spark of new beginnings, the sustaining warmth of trust, and the deep, enduring coals of long-term loyalty that weather any storm.🫲

Creatures on buildings made without the access for water are more correctly called "grotesques," but most of them are pretty cute, wouldn't you say?

🕍Historically, because gargoyles were placed on the outside of holy buildings, they were believed to act as spiritual guardians that warded off evil spirits and protected the faithful inside. People believed that the fiercer or uglier the carving, the better it was at repelling harm from the building and its inhabitants.
