Student-athletes with upcoming finals… this one’s for you!

Finals week = heavy brain load + high training stress. Your nutrition needs to support both. 🧠⚡️

These “brain-boosting” foods aren’t magic — but they are backed by nutrition science when used consistently:

🫐 Blueberries → antioxidants that support memory + cognitive processing
🍳 Eggs → choline for neurotransmitters (focus, reaction time)
🐟 Salmon / fatty fish → omega-3s for brain cell structure + recovery
🥜 Walnuts → anti-inflammatory fats for sustained brain function
🥬 Leafy greens → micronutrients that support blood flow + cognition
🎃 Pumpkin seeds → zinc + magnesium for nerve signaling + mental clarity
🍫 Dark chocolate → flavonoids + a small caffeine boost for focus
☕️ Coffee → proven to enhance alertness, reaction time, and endurance performance
🥑 Avocado → healthy fats for steady energy (no brain fog crashes)

⚠️ What actually matters most this week:

Don’t underfuel. Low energy = poor focus + slower processing.

Prioritize carbs. Your brain runs on glucose, this is not the week to try a low-carb diet.

Stay hydrated. Even mild dehydration impacts cognition.

Time your caffeine. Use it strategically, not all day.

Happy Registered Dietitian Day! 🥳

We thought today would be the perfect time to (re)introduce our team behind Team 8 Nutrition.

👋🏼 Brooke — Founder of Team 8 Nutrition, performance RD, former Division I volleyball athlete, and passionate about helping athletes and active individuals use nutrition as a powerful tool for performance. Through Team 8, Brooke works with athletes from high school to the professional level and currently serves as the sports dietitian for the University of Nebraska Omaha, the Omaha Supernovas professional volleyball team, and Nebraska One volleyball club. Her passion is helping athletes fuel for performance, recovery, and longevity so they can show up at their best in training, competition, and life.

👋🏼 Alexis — Performance dietitian, former collegiate and professional soccer player, and an integral part of Team 8 Nutrition. Alexis works directly with athletes and active individuals, helping them build practical fueling strategies that support performance, recovery, and confidence in their nutrition. Her background as both an athlete and RD allows her to connect deeply with the athletes and clients she serves — and thrives working with teams to maximize nutrition knowledge & peak performance.

At Team 8 Nutrition, we believe nutrition is never one-size-fits-all. Our goal is to provide evidence-based, individualized, and performance-driven guidance — because every athlete’s goals, training, and body are different.

I always love looking back and reflecting at the end of each year — sometimes we forget how much we can truly accomplish and grow! I’m so grateful for all of our dedicated athletes + clients, travel, good eats, and insane memories 2025 brought.

HUGE shoutout to our very own Alexis for absolutely crushing the Good Life Halfsy last weekend 🏅🏃🏽‍♀️

Race season is in full swing, and Team 8 is showing up this year! From major marathons like NYC, Chicago, and Boston to first-time half marathons and local races, it’s been so fun cheering on our clients (and our fav RDs) out on the course. Keep stacking those finish lines!!!
