The Arc of Nebraska is saddened to learn of the new technology being utilized in Omaha area schools without public knowledge. In response we issued a public statement attached below.

The Arc of the United States has a well documented position as to such aversive treatments and are strongly opposed to their usage with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Historically, the individuals we advocate for have frequently been subjected to aversive treatments. Read our national organizations position statement here:

Voting by mail is helpful for voters with disabilities. In Nebraska, you can request this method for any reason.

Read more about the Supreme Court’s decision nation wide. And remember, you can request to vote by mail now until Sept. 3rd.

⭐️With postage, it is better to be early than last minute. In-person drop off at your elections office can ensure a more timely submission if nearing the deadline for returning.

“All county election offices will accept early-voting applications up to 120 days prior to a statewide primary, general election or special election. However, regular early-voting ballots are not sent out or voted until at least 35 days before a primary or general election and 15 days prior to all other elections. All early-voting ballots whether delivered in person or carrier to the county drop box or by mail must arrive by the close of polls on the day of the election.” -See NE elections link.

The Arc explains why Watson v. RNC matters: many voters with disabilities rely on mail ballots, and this Supreme Court ruling helps protect their access to the vote.
