Looks like it’s going to be a busy summer with one long standing retailer bankrupting and another one picking up to carry the poor piercing practices torch in their place. I usually try to get ahead of the influx of urgent calls by posting educational content because parents come to shops for advice when things go wrong each summer, not back to the retail employee who did a 90 minute (usually video or if they’re lucky a field rep) training provided by a piercing gun company to then be told they’re “a certified piercer”.
This is all publicly available information and something the piercing world has been swimming upstream to fight against for decades.
Let’s begin with an aftercare product review shall we?
⚠️ BZK: have a read.
⚠️ First Aid to prevent infection of pierced ears. (Stop right there. Professional piercers, their environmental control practices, sterile field and client behaviors all prevent infection of pierced ears. Aftercare is designed to simply irrigate the wound, and remove/prevent build up or particulates on or around the piercing, that’s it. That’s its primary function.)
⚠️ No sterile label because it is a non sterile pour out style container.
⚠️ Call poison control and keep out of reach of children. (I didn’t see the need for that warning label on the other aftercare because it’s essentially salt water.)
⚠️ Saturate a (non sterile) cotton or fibrous item and rub it all over your healing piercing. (Those little cotton fibers are super fun to trim away as a piercer once they’ve bundled around the jewelry and soaked up natural bodily and healing fluids.)
⚠️ Rotate and touch (the foreign object your body is attempting to heal itself around. They threw the typo in for a little razzle dazzle of legitimacy. NEVER touch, twist or move your jewelry intentionally).
⚠️Contact a doctor for adverse reactions to this product. (Enough said).
