Gina Tran - Lincoln
Gina believes that all of the individuals on her team should be as independent as possible. To make this possible, she gives her team all of the tools they need to complete tasks. This could be as simple as showing them how to do something or going out of her way to make things accessible for her team. Gina works closely with a person who loves to be outside and be part of the team. One of their favorite things is flying kites, but is unable to hold the handle. Gina came up with the idea of tying the kite onto a fishing pole so that they can hold that and fly the kite. Every time they go to fly kites, there are smiles all around!

This month, we’re celebrating the abilities, contributions, and accomplishments of people with disabilities in workplaces across our communities.

When businesses hire people with disabilities, they create opportunities for individuals to earn a living, develop skills, build relationships, and be an active part of their community.

Whether covering shifts, planning meaningful activities, or training DSPs, Kayleigh consistently goes above and beyond. This accessible home was created with the people who live there at the heart of every detail. From accessible spaces to a comfortable place to gather, the home is designed to support independence, connection, and everyday life.

Barb supports 2 men and always asks what they would like to do each day, making sure she gets them others out in the community. They not only volunteer to pick up recycling at 2 places weekly, but this group makes sure everyone at Apace David City is remembered on their birthday with their favorite homemade treat.

🤝 Integrity – Doing what is right, even when no one is looking. Acting ethically and responsibly, and with respect.

Kate Dawkins - Auburn
Over this past year, Kate has gone above and beyond in her role working with Vocational Rehabilitation. At the beginning of the year, Auburn wasn't serving anyone through Voc Rehab, and now, thanks to Kate’s dedication, they have become the leading area in Apace for employment. Kate has gone above and beyond helping individuals in services reach their employment goals. She has helped someone obtain their forklift license, researched what would be needed to get into law enforcement, and been to countless businesses looking not just for jobs for individuals, but positions that could lead to careers. She takes pride in the work she does, as is evidenced by her meeting Voc Rehab’s timelines for reports, and her work is of such quality that it is being used as an example for the rest of Apace.

Jessica Ramirez - Columbus
Jessi actively creates opportunities for participants to make choices, take responsibility, and build independence. She developed a cleaning checklist to help two roommates manage their home, plans Community Integration activities around participant interests, and independently helped a participant replace damaged eyeglasses. Jessi does more than provide support- she helps people take greater ownership of their everyday lives.
