Nobody is putting a health claim on a bunch of kale and calling it a superfood, but they should.

The foods with the strongest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant evidence are not the ones with the biggest marketing budgets.

They are the ones that have been sitting in the produce section your entire life without needing a label to explain themselves.

No proprietary blend, no clinical dose and no subscription required.

Just food doing what food has always done when you actually give it the chance.

Which of these do you eat regularly? Be honest 👇

Antioxidants are everywhere in wellness marketing.

But most people have never been told what they do, or why taking more of them in supplement form isn’t always smarter than getting them from food.

Here is the short version.
Your body makes free radicals constantly as a normal byproduct of metabolism. Antioxidants neutralize them. When free radicals win, that is oxidative stress. And oxidative stress is one of the primary drivers of chronic inflammation.

The part that changes everything: how well your body handles this process is largely written into your DNA. Some people genuinely need more dietary antioxidants than others. And some people are taking high-dose supplements that are working against their biology rather than with it.

More is not always better; the right amount for your specific biology is.

You function, show up, but something is missing, and you can’t quite name it.

Flat when you should feel fine.
Irritable when you have no real reason to be.
Unmotivated in ways you cannot explain.
Waiting to feel like yourself again and not quite getting there.

When your biology is running a chronic inflammatory process in the background, your mood, your motivation, and your emotional resilience can resemble this.

If this resonated, you are not imagining it. Follow along on Substack for even more.

The medical bills are real.
But the cost to think about is the one that never shows up on a statement.

The patience that runs out too fast. The brain fog that makes simple things feel hard. The low mood that has no obvious explanation. The relationships that quietly take the hit when you are running on empty.

A significant subset of people with depression have elevated inflammatory markers. Sleep disorders generate $94.9 billion in direct healthcare costs annually, with depression as one of the most expensive downstream conditions.

Sometimes the problem is inflammatory.
And addressing the root cause changes more than how you feel physically.

The 3 pm craving isn’t a willpower problem.

It’s a blood sugar problem. An inflammation problem. And if you slept badly last night, a sleep deprivation problem that adds 400 to 500 extra calories of craving-driven eating to your day before you even make a single conscious choice.

The average person with diabetes spends between $3,300 and $4,600 a year out of pocket on managing that condition even with insurance. That condition did not appear overnight. It developed over years of exactly this pattern.

The craving is not random. And the cost is not just the snack.
Save this if it landed, and head over to Substack for the full series.

Sleep deprivation costs the US economy up to $411 billion a year.

Not because people are lazy. Because a body that isn’t sleeping is a body that’s inflamed. An inflamed body cannot perform, recover, or function the way it’s supposed to.

One bad night elevates key inflammatory markers, and chronic, poor sleep keeps them there. Everything else you are doing to feel better: the diet, the supplements, the movement underperforms when sleep is broken.

This isn’t a lifestyle preference. It is a financial and biological decision.
